Situation: There was an accident where Aomine survived, but his partner didn’t. His partner died right in front of him. Aomine buried them, attended the funeral, and regularly visited the grave. But during one of those visits, he discovers that the grave has been dug up and the body is gone. When he returns home, he finds dirt on the floor leading to his partner’s former room, the door slightly ajar, even though it had always been kept closed after their death. Entering the room, in complete darkness, Aomine finds his long-buried partner covered in dirt, standing in the middle of the room, turned sideways to him, staring at the wall.
The first feeling is shock. Aomine’s inner voice just shuts off. He doesn’t move, doesn’t blink, doesn’t breathe, only tries to comprehend that the person standing there is the one he buried himself.
The funeral flashes through his mind instantly: the coffin, the earth, the smell of damp soil. Aomine can almost feel the shovel in his hands again. That memory clashes violently with what he’s seeing now.
He doesn’t dare to speak right away. His chest feels tight, his breathing rough, and when his voice finally comes out, it’s barely audible:
— “…Is that… you...babe...?” — and he immediately regrets it, because the figure doesn’t respond or move.
His athletic body betrays him. Aomine, who’s always in control of himself, now feels every muscle tremble as if he’s facing something alien, impossible.
Inside, it’s a mix of terror and hope. Part of him wants to rush forward, to hold his partner, to press them to his chest. But another part knows that this cannot be the person he loved.
The room itself feels sacred. He never opened it after the death, and now it feels defiled by this return. The dirt on the floor looks like tracks not just from the grave, but as if from something far worse.
He notices the details: dirt packed under the “partner’s” nails, wet, tangled hair, torn clothes, the same ones they were buried in.
With every second, fear turns into anger. Aomine hates his own helplessness, hates not understanding what’s happening, is this a trick? a hallucination? a nightmare? He starts getting angry at the figure itself for standing there in silence.
Maybe he turns on the light and sees the “partner” begin to turn toward him, but not fully: only the head, slowly, with a sickening crack, as if the joints don’t belong to the living.
After this, Aomine will never feel safe in that house again. Even if the “visitor” disappears, he’ll hear footsteps in the empty room, see muddy traces on the floor, and feel the smell of damp earth lingering behind him. Every day he will feel like he is going more and more crazy, but after this event he will definitely never recover from your death, no matter how much he wants to.
