ITS FINALLY APRIL! It’s exciting for me cause it’s my birthday month 🎉 but with everything that’s going on I am spending my birthday inside! Daily Gem: UNAKITE! Unakite is a coarse granite like rock that contains both PINK orthoclase and pistacio-GREEN epidote. Unakite was named after the Unaka mountains of North Carolina where it was first discovered. It has a mossy like appearance, especially when in its rough gem form. It has a Mohs Hardness of 6-7, close to the hardness of agates and quartzes! UNAKITE is a metamorphic rock, forming when granite is altered by hydro-thermal activity where plagioclase in granite are replaced by epidote, creating the PINK orthoclase and GREEN epidote coloration found in unakite. Unakite is a gem of new beginnings and living in the now, infusing its wearer with powerful vibes to let go of the past and move forward, bringing positivity, & reminding the user to enjoy the little things in life.
