I'm so tired

Daisho con ended.

As a former staff member, im so sad it happened. but im also so many other things

I'm so mad about all the rumors going around that arent true. I'm so upset over all the things I cant say to stop people from being Doxxed, to defend them for what they were doing. and I want to so badly.

I'm so annoyed that if i say everything now, some parts are so buried in trauma that I dont remember it all, or that its skewed and I wont have all the pieces to show that what I'm saying is just the facts and now my emotions. I have every memory but I just cant grab them. I'm so frustrated that the year i was con director was the most painful year I've ever experienced. I was burnt out long before anyone else, I was punching walls, screaming where no one could hear me and silent where people wanted to talk to me. I was harassed, manipulated, gaslit, threatened by people i trusted and people i hardly knew. Anytime i think of my year i get flashbacks of when my other con director was so happy and excited and fired up in the room she shared when the con was over. How happy and full of life she was... and I was trying so hard to show her support for her feelings, while i held back months of tears because I felt like I didnt do enough, or was enough, so i just curled up as tight as i could and wanted the last night to be over. I'm so frustrated hardly anyone actually knows how i feel about it. Even those who watched me sob for hours. Theres so much yet, and Its too much for them to see and they dont need that.

I'm so happy that theres so many memories i do have that are good ones, ones i wont ever forget. I'm so happy i met so many amazing people, i made so many friends, I learned so many things.

Nothing can replace those memories.

But I'm so tired. Tired of trying to explain it all.

I want to so much.

but I'm just so tired.

Avdol from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure // Cosplayer : @noc_teecosplay // Photo : @lightmode.on⁠ .⁠ I came up with Avdol for Daisho Con because I have seriously always wanted to do a Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure cosplay ever since I started reading/watching the series. It wasn’t until a couple of months or so before the con that a group of my friends wanted to do a Stardust Crusaders group, so I hopped on that idea right away and got to work on Avdol. Worked on it till the morning of the convention and it turned out so well!⁠

I’d have to say, I think I had the most fun cosplaying a Jojo’s character simply because of all the random shouting that got thrown my way hahaha. Like out of nowhere I would hear, “MOHAMMED AVDOL”, to which I would turn around and say, “YES I AM.” You don’t see a lot of Avdol cosplayers around so people get all hyped when they do see one! Plus getting to pose with my group and literally every other Jojo’s cosplayer made me super happy. That stuff hits different ya know?⁠ .⁠ Alright so Daisho Con is literally a double packaged con: Ya get the con itself (which is amazing btw) AND you get the entire indoor waterpark which kind of speaks for itself. Whenever the con scene starts to feel overwhelming, you just head to the waterpark. When you’re tired of the waterpark and need your fix of amazing weebs in cosplay, you go back to the con! And it’s just the right size to where you can always bump into your friends just walking around nonchalantly.

It is seriously the one con I ALWAYS make sure to go to every year. I’d have to say this year, my favorite part of the con was the waterpark and the outdoor hot tub! It was just me, my friends, the VA for Present Mic from My Hero Academia, and a bunch of lovely people as we sang our hearts out all night. I wish I could go back honestly. ⁠

The Nerd & Tie Podcast: 173. The Death of Daisho Con

So the biggest news in the Midwestern con scene this last week has been long running Wisconsin anime convention Daisho Con permanently closing its doors. As Nick was a co-founder of Daisho Con — though he left the organization years ago — we thought we would go into a deep dive behind what went wrong with the event (and what we think led to its eventual end).

Before that though, we talk about the passing of long time convention vendor Wayne McCloud and give our full review of Netflix’s adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. It’s a hell of a ride.

I wasn't sure what to post for my 1,000th Instagram post, but I think this is appropriate.

Here's Chevalier Weiss in her mostly finished glory! I still need to make the strap and the veil, but other than that, it's finished and gorgeous (if I say so myself)! I had a lot of fun wearing this at Daisho, though it took FOREVER to make, hence why I haven't been posting.

Don't recognize this outfit? It's a unique skin from the Chinese mobile game, RWBY: Rose Snow, and that game actually doesn't exist anymore. They shut down the server back in September, so this is a Rare Semi Canon Weiss. There also isn't a back view, so I got creative. 💙

This cosplay features a lot of sheers and lace (my faves), appliqués (I'm getting more experience with those) and hotfix rhinestones (quite a learning curve), and it is definitely my most advanced outfit so far. One of my favorite things about cosplay is acquiring new skills, and there was no shortage of that with Chevalier Weiss! I even made my own bias tape!

One of my favorite things about this outfit is the incorporation of Swarovski's Edelweiss rhinestones as well as some of their snowflake rhinestones. They are extremely appropriate for a number of reasons. It also has 5 different types of lace, and y'all know I love lace.
