“Raphael, please hold still sweetie.” The boy winced again as his hair was pulled by the brush but held still as his little fists scrunched up tight in his sleep shirt. “There! All done!” Raphael opened his eyes and looked back at [Y/N] as they announced he was finished. His long hair freshly platted for bed. “Shall I tuck you in? Or would you like Clara to do it?”
“C…Could you and Papa both do it?”
“Of course!” Dali agreed for the both of them. Having already put Ul down in his crib, the rest of the evening as his.
Raphael beamed and hopped down from his chair to scamper off to his bed with unseen enthusiasm. “You don’t have to answer for me you know.” [Y/N] quipped when they were alone. To which Dali just smirked.
“Oh, come on. Like you were really going to say no to him.”
“I say no all the time. In case you’d forgotten.” They reply as the adults head down the hall.
“To me, sure. But to Raphael? By the way, why do you always say no to me and not Raphael?”
[Y/N] smirked at Dali over their shoulder once they arrived at the door. “You’re not nearly as cute.”
Dali placed his hand over his heart to show he had been wounded by their words, but quickly followed after into the children’s room. The two of them read Raphael a story and he quickly fell asleep between them. They then snuck out. Closing the door with hopes of sweet dreams for the night. “I should call my carriage.”
“Or, you could not.” [Y/N] turned to Dali with an arched brow before he continued. “You’ll be right back here tomorrow first thing. Why not save the horses the trip and stay the night?”
There was a long moment in which [Y/N] seemed to consider before they answered, “I don’t think that would be wise.”
“Awww….why not?”
“You know why not.”
It was all the ‘no’s’ Dali had been talking about. Their relationship was one of subtlety and complexity. One that existed before Frida’s passing, when they were all friends, until now when she was gone. Her absence was one Dali knew that they felt in their life as well. One they clung to each other for in the beginning before it passed, and they stayed close for the children.
[Y/N] had been instrumental in assisting him with the children and with the case in this new plan he was trying. Dali was grateful for them. But it was a different kind of grateful from what he felt for Gerhard and the others. Something a kin to love. Though they both knew it was too soon for any of that.
“I will see you in the morning Dali.” [Y/N] said as they headed for the door.
Dali smirked sadly. “Yes. Goodnight.” He then added cheekily. “Next time I’ll have Raphael ask you to stay.” [Y/N] smirked back, but said nothing as they continued for the door and out into the night.
Dali sighed. Suddenly feeling alone. It would be short lived, however, as soon his children would be up, and his friends back in his home, and [Y/N] back as well. It was just that he wished he didn’t have to wait. That they could just be here with him.
But, he was determined to be patient. There was no obstacle that Dali Delico could not overcome. He’d get his way, in the end. [Y/N] just didn’t know it yet.
You were the first to discover their secret, as you are their neighbour.
Let's just say, you spotted them switching places, through the hole in the fence, while 'Hitori' supposedly tried to place the bird's house on the tree branch with the help of his adoptive father.
You decide to confront Hitori about it or rather 'Dali' when you get invited over to the Sonoyamas for dinner.
Big mistake.
One, because you confronted the more manipulative twin.
Two, Dali and Migi tied you up in their room and threatened you.
"Tell Anyone about this-"
"-And we will chop your head off"
Of course you agreed in fear...however, the twins didn't stop at that.
You would feel a presence in your house more often and feel as if someone is watching you.
Totally obvious that Dali is one watching you while hiding in your closet.
Or the fact that some of your clothes or accessories is missing.
Not knowing that Migi is one who stole them.
On the other hand, the twins felt comfortable with their identities around you
Migi falls for you first.
But Dali falls for you hard.
It really wasn't hard for you to differentiate between them both.
Dali is the more manipulative and rational one.
While Migi is the emotional one, and hyper one.
They use their mind tricks on you making you feel sympathy for them.
Dali and Migi agreed to share you.
You find it strange how no one approaches you at school, except for them.
I’m 𝓒𝓱𝓲𝓱𝓪𝓻𝓾-𝓬𝓱𝓪𝓷 and I know some knows me already from my KNY fanfics! But here I am! Exploring Migi to Dali as I had seen a comment that there are only few fics for this wonderful anime.
As what I've said before, I will only write for adult Migi and Dali as I am not comfy writing about minor boys. So here we are!
Let's start with a simple HC for these wonderful twin XD emphasise on the WONDERFUL hahaha!
Tagging you guys as you commented on my Migi to Dali post before~

» As you know how emotional your boyfriend is, Migi is always clingy. Yes, it might be funny, but the guy wants you to always assure him how much you love him.
» He never ceases to tell you how pretty you are. He loves comparing you to Sali-chan, who appears to be his first love and who also turned out to be just the persona of his twin brother, Dali. At first, you found it weird. But when you knew about his life, you understood everything and appreciated your boyfriend more.
» Sometimes you end up thinking that Migi's love languages are all five. He's very sweet and affectionate, especially with his words. He loves giving you his time. He is clingy and loves physical affection. Migi is also ready to give you his time, all the gifts in the world, and even all of him if you want to.
» But of course, not every day is sunshine and roses. When there are challenges in your relationship, Migi is the one who will try to approach you first to solve them. He hates fights. He can put up a tantrum sometimes, but after that, he makes sure that he'll make it up to you.
» Migi is very enchanting and enigmatic, especially with how he handles things. You can't help but be amazed at how he moves and solves things. He's smart, and yet, he really needs that push from you. But, of course, things will never change.
» Migi can be so silly but you know that he is the only one who can make you happy.
🍑𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐢🍑
» Dali is definitely the serious one in the relationship. He's the rational one. Although he is not particularly outspoken regarding his emotions, the way he looks at you could stop your entire world.
» He isn't the kind of boyfriend who will throw compliments at you. He would rather show it to you instead. Or sometimes, he'll just end up teasing you, even if he meant the other way around. Even without expressing it overtly, the individual genuinely adores your appearance and demeanour. You'll always find him looking at you.
» Dali doesn't believe in love languages. He thinks it is funny. But then, even if he won't notice it, he seems to have the physical touch, quality time, and acts of service. He's sweet but not too sweet. He'll steal touches and kisses, but not always. And yes, he'll make sure to give you time, no matter how busy he is with the university.
» But of course, not every day is sunshine and roses. Dali won't be the one to fix things whenever you fight. Yes, he can be hard on you, and that can be tough. But then, you know his weakness is you, yourself, and so you use that to get his attention again and make up. You'll end up talking about the "logical ways" to solve your issues.
» Dali is very enigmatic. Actually, if you don't know him, you'll think of him as the definition of a mystery. But of course, there are times when he can be vulnerable as well (even if you can just count it on your fingers). But the quantity doesn't matter; it's the quality of relationship you have, and you know you can be proud of him as a boyfriend.
» Dali can be so serious, but you will know that you won't ever be complete without him by your side.
𝓣𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓴 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓯𝓸𝓻 𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓰!
Really hope you liked it!
There will be more non-KNY fanfics soon. So be on the look out!
See you on my next fics. Feel free to reblog, request, and comment!
caution! there may be manga spoilers under the cut!

This was his first Valentine's with you as his sweetheart, to say he was excited was an understatement. He had been preparing for this since Christmas passed, he wanted to make the most of the day, and most importantly, make sure you enjoyed it.
But little did he know that you had caught wind of his plans, especially with all the questions he had been posing you.
But you played along, you couldn't bear for him to be disappointed, and he was just too adorable.
He took you to Walter Park for the first half of the day, paying for all of the expenses. When the sun was at it's peak and the heat was insufferable, he took you to a park for a picnic lunch. He made lunch for the both of you, a simple veggie dish and rice.
After Lunch, he took you shopping, but you watched him excitedly dart around, looking at all the snacks and magical tools around.
Even though it wasn't a surprise, you were happy that he planned all this to spend time with you. You could never forget how widely he smiled after you told him about how much you enjoyed the day, it made you fall in love with him all over again.

Chiyo had many demands of her time, and knew that Valentine's day would be no different. She promised you she would take leave from her work when the 14th rolled around, but sad to say that promise was never fulfilled.
You weren't the only one upset when you returned to your room, expecting to see her, only to see a gift wrapped present with a letter of apology beside it. Chiyo too was frustrated that she was suddenly summoned away- away from you.
11pm rolled around, and she had shown no sign of returning. The day was almost over, and your girlfriend hadn't appeared.
The clock hit 12am, and you decided to retire, but you heard the unlocking and locking of the door, followed by a set of quickened footsteps as Chiyo approached your bedroom. She got on her knees, apologizing profusely to you.
Could you forgive her? The look of relief she had when you hugged her, admitting that you couldn't be mad, and it was best you two retired for the night.
Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

You sat alone in your shared room, silently seething at your boyfriend. Of course he scored tickets for a DeviDol concert that just so happened to be on Valentine's Day, right? But there was no use being angry.
You threw yourself onto the bed, glaring at the DeviDol poster on the wall. Was it wrong to want your boyfriend all to yourself just for one day?
You opened your phone, the vines of envy wrapping itself around your heart and twisting. Everyone was offline, probably spending time with their lovers.
Just as you were about to put your phone away and cry yourself to sleep, you received a text from Murmur. Did the concert end early? Did he drink himself into oblivion and need you to pick him up again?
It was neither. All he had asked you to do was to come to a fancy restaurant in an hour, and you suddenly started to question. You dressed up, and left the house, going to the restaurant. You couldn't help but wonder, the restaurant in question was a super popular one for higher ranking demons, and it was almost impossible to get a reservation there.
You arrived, and was guided in by a waiter, to a table where your boyfriend was awkwardly waiting, folding his napkin into complex oragami.
When you sat down, he couldn't help but flash a smile, and you instantly knew that he had planned this all along, and the DeviDol concert was just a convenient cover-up.

Dali was mysterious, that was for sure. You could never tell was he was thinking or feeling under the masks of laughs and smiling. One thing for sure was that he dedicated himself to teaching, not overlooking any mistake.
So you weren't surprised when you went looking for him on Valentine's, you found him in his office marking his students most recent essays.
You watched him for a while, wondering if you should approach him or walk away, and spend your Valentine's alone. But before you could make your decision, you heard him call your name.
He's almost hurt from the fact you thought he would forget to spend time with his girlfriend on Valentine's. He asked you to come to a certain location in a few hours. The ballroom where Devilams are usually held. That's odd, as far as you were concerned there was no Devilam happening today-
You and Dali were in an empty ballroom. Your bodies swaying effortlessly to the music playing in your heads. You and him both dressed as if you were royalty from fairy tales.
Then you knew, that he was the one for you.
𝐊𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐎
You sat alone in your lovers home, giving Kalego's beloved cacti their monthly drown- watering..
He was busy, all he always was.. today being no different. You wouldn't be surprised if he forgot that today was Valentine's, or if his clan didn't celebrate the holiday. But right now he was with his 'beloved' Misfits, and it made you smile knowing that Kalego was finally getting along with his class instead of scaring them off like he used to.
A notification drew your attention to your phone, it was from Kalego. Well- from Kalego's number, the message was obviously written by one of his students. You smiled as you got ready to leave, heading over to the Royal One.
You didn't expect to see your lover tied up in pink lacy ribbon with a scowl as the rest of the class wished you Happy Valentine's, claiming to have caught your 'escaped fiance'.
Sure Kalego didn't like this idea, but it was all worth it seeing the smile on your face as you laughed, thanking his moronic students.

He devoted today to you, clearing out his schedule by completing all his work early. He requested to take off, and given the fact he rarely does so, Dali and Sullivan both gave their 666s.
He would gather a bouquet of rare, but beautiful flowers for you. And if you should request for him to keep them alive so that you could admire their beauty for longer, he would gladly do so, even teaching you how to raise them to reach their peak beauty.
You two preferred a more quiet Valentine's, enjoying spending time with each other in your shared home over going out. You would complain about your work, while braiding his hair as he listened, making small comments, and occasionally even taking your 'enemies' side.
The day would end with a dinner the two of you would cook together, even though Balam's hands looked way too big to hold the average demon-sized pan..
Afterwards you would cuddle in bed, with you stroking his scarred jaw, and pretty much using him as your personal mattress.
𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀
You wouldn't see Opera till mid-day that's for sure. They were too busy serving the Sullivan household to see you before. And you respected that.
At least, that was what you thought.
You woke up, and Opera was in your house. You didn't even question how they had gotten in, and you couldn't bring yourself to be mad when the smell of your favorite pancakes wafted through the air. Not only that, your whole house was much tidier than you remembered, and your laundry was dry and folded.
Opera was all about servicing you, showing you how much you meant to them. Even if you two were not bound by a Security Devil-Master relationship, they would still serve you.
You got up, walking to where your lover was, wrapping your arms around their waist, not missing how you could feel their tail swishing from side to side happily by your legs.
𝐈𝐏𝐎𝐒
You looked at your clock, eagerly anticipating your boyfriend's arrival. He had work that day, but promised he would come to you after he could leave.
Excitement dissolved into worry when you realized it was now raining- and very hard at that. You checked your phone, expecting a text saying that he couldn't visit due to the weather, but instead of that, all you saw was the message he last sent which was early that morning.
A thump at your door alerted you, and you rushed to open it. There, you were greeted with a soaking wet Ipos, who was folding his wings in.You immediately ushered him in, dragging him to your bathroom and making him sit there as you went to get his spare clothes that he kept at your place.
As he changed, you couldn't help but notice a soaking wet paper bag at the door. You opened it, seeing a heart shaped box of chocolate, your favorite, but sadly misshapen and soaked due to the rain.
Oh well, it's the thought that counts, right? In the end, you got to cuddle with your boyfriend while eating chocolate, knowing that you'll have to take care of a him the next day, given the amount he was sneezing.
𝐄𝐈𝐓𝐎
Your boyfriend was eagerly rambling on and on about this new student of his, complaining about how the system ranked him so lowly, and eagerly making 'what-if' plans to train him.
You were tired of this man's bullshit, sure it was cute the first few times he did it, but he's been doing this for months now, and in the midst of that, he had probably forgotten Valentine's Day.
You watched him as he cooked, being there to make sure he didn’t burn the kitchen, or the food down. Honestly you couldn’t be mad at him, his flaming tail flicking around as he continued to ramble while talking to you. After some time your food was ready, and Eito gave it to you. It was a stack of heart shaped pancakes, heart shaped fruits and berries with demon syrup. Your favorite breakfast.
You felt a warmth in your cheeks as Eito pressed a kiss to your forehead, whispering a ‘Happy Valentines’ and going to get ready for school.
You really couldn’t stay mad at him.

Marbas was a simple person, really. From his appearance to his personality. So you weren’t surprised when you found a bouquet of flowers and a small box of chocolate on your table. Though they were stereotypical Valentine's gifts, you found it sweet.
However, something you didn’t expect to see was how later on in the day, when you joined him in the tools room to help him clean his equipment. You didn’t expect the large dark red heart on the wall, drawn with something that was already drying… was it fresh?
Not only on the wall, but almost all the equipment had them too. You cleaned them all off, thankful for the cleaning products you had invested in. Marbas wasn’t anywhere to be seen, you were silently hoping he wasn't drawing more hearts at home..
You couldn’t even begin to explain how relieved you were when you saw Marbas holding a red can of paint just as you were finishing up with the cleaning.
But you realized that the red colour wasn’t matching.
He only smiled at you when questioned..
….it was paint… right?

He woke up beside you, checking his clock. His video game console was on the floor, he obviously slept late because he was playing games. He got up, getting ready for school, canceling the previous day off the calendar. Just as he was about to walk away, he froze, running back to the calendar.
It was Valentine’s Day.
He forgot.
He didn’t have time to prepare a surprise for you right now, as he watched you slowly wake up. His best bet was to use his luck and make something for you later. But for now, he’ll pretend that he actually did something.
He winked and saluted you with two fingers, promising to see you later.
That night he was walking with you, holding flowers that he coincidentally found on the way to school. How lucky, am I right?
At the end of the walk, you just laughed, and from that, Orias already knew he had been caught. Oh well, luck can only go so far, and he laughed with you as well.
But he knew for a fact as you kissed his cheek, that he was pretty damn lucky to have you, and it wasn’t even with his ability.

Right, today was the day. You had a whole day planned out for the two of you. You looked at the itinerary that you had made for that day, only to receive a message from Momonoki to meet you at a breakfast place. Well, that wasn’t the same place you had planned for the two of you to go, but it’s fine!
When you got there, the two of you sat down, and ordered. You decided to tell her about your plan for that day as you waited for the food.
But to yours, and her, surprise, you both started to talk right after the waiter left. Then there was a small bit of bickering as you two argued on who should go first.
Eventually you two decided that you should go first, and you took out the plan, explaining it to her. You looked up only to see her shocked. You started to wonder if there was something wrong.
She pulled out a paper, similar to yours. Both of you had planned the whole day, but separately.
You two laughed about it, making an itinerary together that was a mashup of the two.
Both of you knew you would do anything to see the other smile.
Heya! This is my first time requesting so I’m a bit nervous but could I ask for some general dating headcanons/scenarios with Dali & Robin? I can’t get enough of these two but there’s barely any content of them. </3
Thank you very much for your time! :D
Switch it up a bit and do some characters not a lot of people do!
(Hope I did Dali well enough. I don't understand him well enough yet)
Robin
This is a very chaotic relationship being with him
You don't know what he is going to do next, one moment you two are doing one thing then the next minute you are doing something else
It is very rare to just sit and relax with him, he is someone that likes to move around
If you want to sit down and just cuddle, you're just going to have to grab him and hold him down
He will squirm for a bit but then he will calm down and cuddle with you
But after a few minutes, he will then start telling you random things and info dumping on you
Since he lives at the teacher dorms, I don't think he would date another teacher traveling to see each other
After dating for a few months, he will ask you to move in with him at the teacher dorms
When you agree he is jumping around and does a little dance (It is very cute)
When you move in with Robin you start to help around the dorms, after all these teachers are working hard to teach the students
You help clean the place up, help do the laundry if they need help and other chores
But everyone loves it when you and Robin both cook, you both make really good meals together
Robin: "Y/N let's I found something really cool I want to show you!"
Five minutes later Robin: "Y/N over there let's take a look!"
Dali
I feel like he would date another teacher
Dating Dali, he is very open and private relationship
What I mean by that he is willing to tell other demons he is together with you, but when people see how you act during work they see you as co-workers
All your co-workers know you two are together unless you are they are new recruits (Robin)
I want to say that you two be together for a long while like you two were dating when Kalego was a first-year teacher (So at the current point of the manga you two are married)
He is someone who would tell you he loves you and stuff, but where his true colors show is when he does small acts for you to show that he loves you
He will bring you flowers, do some of your annoying paperwork, or bring you small snacks throughout the day
He is also that is very open with PDA unless it is during school hours, he wants to stay professional during that time
Lied: "Dali-sensei, I have a question."
Dail: "Yes?"
Lied: "You and Y/N-sensei seem really close compared to other teachers. Why is that?"
Dali: "Oh that is because me and Y/n-sensei are married."
I saw that you did a Balam and Iruma request and was wondering if you'd do one for either Robin or Dali (whichever you prefer)? I apparently have a thing for characters who hide behind a nice front who are actually more than likely really dangerous/unhinged 😆 Don't have any prompt or idea in mind, anything is fine as long as the reader is human ^^ thank you!😊
Hey Missam! I.just posted a Robin x reader, (literally 5 seconds ago so don't worry) so I went with Dali! And he.turned out to be an interesting character. Its more pre-romance, but if you squint, you can tell Dali has the start of a crush on the reader!
A hell Stink bug was relatively a harmless creature; anyone with even a basic amount of mana and skill could handle the little bugger. Usually demons were able to fend them off by the time they were toddlers.
Otherwise, their sting could leave a demon ill for days.
But even if one avoided their sting, the insect would leave the person with a rather unpleasant aroma for a few hours.
It was a harmless little prank. Just stuff a few of the bugs inside your pencil drawer and wait for the inevitable. Suzy happily supplied half a dozen, well used to Dali's pranks, especially towards new staff members.
Dali made short work, used to the insects himself after hazing so many of the new faculty - and sometimes the senior students when their egos were bloated.
Then He waited.
You were often one of the first to arrive, like many newbies. So eager to prove yourself and full of optimism. Which, yes, being a teacher of Babyls was a high honor that came with heavy expectations.
But, teenagers were truly hell some days. The epitome of what it meant to be a demon.
As he watched you set down your bag and put things away, waiting for you to open the pencil drawer, he wondered what you were like as a teen. He usually could recall those who were once students such as Kalego and Robin, but he couldn't remember you. Had you studied at one of the other schools? If so, why come to Babyls? Usually one's loyalty laid with their alma mater.
Yet, Sullivan was sure of your loyalty - trusted you when you pledged fidelity to Babyls. And Balam had yet to sense any lies.
You were still such an odd demon. Aloof but yet friendly when dragged into conversations. And while Netherworld literature teachers were usually dry, bored of the subject and familiarity of the mandatory reading, students loved your class, and he had passed by and seen for himself as you lectured the contrasting themes of the novel and the conflicts within, and had ended up watching through the open door until class was dismissed, enthralled by your passion.
Ever since then, he had been paying attention to you. You were always by yourself outside of work. In the dorms, you didn't often hang around outside of meal times, and even then you were quiet.
Finally, you opened the trapped drawer and the hell-stink bugs flew out in a swarm. He laughed at your startled scream as you instinctively batted at the tiny insects. The putrid smell started to fill the air, and he expected you to quickly react and use magic to reign in the small things.
Instead, you gave a painful yelp. Dali's good mood evaporated as he realized you were still vainly trying to brush the insects off with your hands and not magic. One, two, three, and more were stinging you, making his stomach twist as he quickly stepped out of the shadows, burning the insects away with a simple flick of his hand.
He barely reached you in time as you fainted, and caught you before you hit the floor.
-----
You woke back in your room at the teachers dorm, your head pounding and body aching. You barely moved and the world spun causing you to feel even worse.
"Hey, easy," Dali's soft voice cut through the ringing in your ears, his hand gently encouraging you to lay back down before replacing the cold washcloth on your head. "There you are. You're over the worst of it, thankfully."
You cracked open an eye, thankful someone has pulled the shades. Dali sat on the edge of your bed, his usual smile replaced with worry.
"What?" You croaked, your throat too dry to finish your question. What happened, what was he doing here?
"I imagine you're confused," he guessed, one of his hands finding yours. "I promise, I meant no harm by my prank. Just a little good humor to help break the ice. Of course, now that I know your situation, I realize I could have cost you your life."
Your mind was slow to pick up the meaning - and even as the pieces finally clicked, you refused to believe. There was no way Dali had discovered your secret. "...situation?" You asked hazily, trying to figure out what he meant.
His warm brown eyes met yours. "Chairdemon Sullivan explained once Professor Buer's magic didn't work on you as intended. It helped, of course, but human anatomy is quite different from demons."
Oh. Oh. He did know. Your heart raced, and the world started to spin once more as you struggled to at least sit up. Dali spoke your name, his hands grasping your shoulders lightly, yet firm enough to stop you. "It's okay. You're okay. You're safe here."
How could you be safe? If others found out, surely one of them would give into temptation and your life would be forfeit.
Dali spoke your name again, and you met his gaze once more. He looked stern as he held your gaze. "I swear, I will protect you from anyone should they try to cause you harm."
His serious tone made you give in and slump back into the mattress. A soft smile broke his serious facade as he brushed your hair lightly. "Rest now, and we can talk later. I promise, I will be by your side until you wake. It's the least I can do after everything."
You really couldn't fight the fatigue that was once more washing over you, but reached out for his hand, your fingers twining with his as sleep overcame you.
Hi! Can I ask the four protagonists of Delico's Nursery to react to the fact that their partner always becomes a bit distant whenever the children address or call her "mom", because she doesn't want to replace the real mother? I apologize for any mistakes in English, it's not my native language.
Despite Dali’s outward appearance of being aloof and nonchalant, not much got past him. He first noticed [Y/N]’s uncomfortable behavior of Ul calling her ‘mama’ when he started speaking, but brushed it off as just the babble of babes. However, when Raphael started doing it too, she was visibly uncomfortable. Not to the children, but clearly shaken.
After putting the children to bed that night, Dali decided to address the situation. “Why do you not like the children calling you Mama?”
[Y/N] turned to look at him with a surprised expression. Her face not clearly as coy as the rest of her. “I didn’t--! I never--!”
“You didn’t have to say it. It’s written all over your face.” He told her. “If you’re not comfortable with it I can ask Raphael to stop.” Though, it did hurt his heart to think that she didn’t think of his sons as a maternal figure.
“No. Don’t do that. This is my problem.” She told him with a sigh as she pushed her hair back. “It’s just….I don’t want to replace Frida.” It was Dali’s turn to be surprised. He hadn’t been expecting that. “They’re so young, and it happened not all that long ago. I just feel bad that I’m replacing her, and the boys won’t remember her. Their real mother.”
Dali stepped forward and wrapped his arms around [Y/N]. “You don’t have to worry about that.” It was a noble thought, and a rational one. Dali also worried sometimes that the boys would forget their wonderful mother. Her pictures were still around, but he didn’t talk about her nearly enough. “Being there for the boys would be what Frida would want. She knows they would need a mother in her stead, and I’m sure she couldn’t think of anyone better for the job than you.”
That night, while the rest of the house was asleep, Dali was sure he felt a breeze come into the room and brush against his face. The scent of jasmine in the air. When he woke up he looked to Frida’s portrait in the hall and told her, “I’m glad you approve.”
“Theodore called me mom today.” Dino paused in cutting his meat and looked up across the dinner table. “I just…thought you should know.”
“Why?” He asked as he sat his silverware down. Sensing that this was going to be a longer conversation than he hoped.
“I don’t know…” She replied as she fidgeted with her fingers. “You’re just always such a stickler for things being proper. I thought you would want to know.”
It was true. Dino liked things to be as they were, and proper. He and [Y/N] were courting, not married. Yet even with his other wives Dino had never forced Theodore to call them mother, and he never had. Until today it seemed. “Theodore can call you what he wishes, so long as it is with respect.” He told her before sipping his wine. “Do you object?”
“No! It’s not that.” [Y/N] assured him. “I’m just….well, I’m not his mother. I didn’t give birth to him.”
“That boy should have been born from an egg for all that mattered.” His mother never paid much attention to their boy after he was born, though to be fair Dino hadn’t either until recently. Still, it didn’t stop her from leaving to parts unknown and never reaching out to see if the child she pushed out of her nest was doing well. “If you have no objection then neither do I. Please discuss the matter with Theodore, if you wish.”
He picked up his silverware again and continued to eat. [Y/N] smiled a little and picked up her fork as well. Dinner remained quiet for the rest of the evening.
“Papa! This cake is delicious!”
“How would you know?” Henrique asked with a smile as he looked at Elena & Lucia. “You got more on your faces than in your bellies.”
“Here. Let me.” [Y/N] said with a chuckle as well as she wiped the girls faces. “There! Perfect again.”
“Thank you Mama-[Y/N]!” The girls chimed as they scooted off their seats to go play.
Henrique giggled as he watched them dart off, but his smile fell when he looked at [Y/N]. “Oi, what’s wrong?”
“They…They just called me Mama.”
“So?” Henrique replied with a shrug.
“Don’t you think that’s…a little inappropriate?” Henrique thought about it for a moment, and he guessed she had a point.
He and Kate had separated. They would never divorce as neither society nor their families would accept that; and honestly Henrique didn’t have the heart like Dino did. They parted amicably to pursue their own passions. He had found his with [Y/N]. “Well, they have to call you something.”
“I don’t think Kate would like it….”
“Why don’t we ask her?”
When Henrique began his relationship with [Y/N] and knew it would be serious, he introduced her to Kate who approved. Not that he needed it, but it was nice to have. Sharing the children was also a part of their agreement which meant that the girls spent a lot of time around [Y/N]. They came up with the name on their own. “If she says no then we’ll have the girls come up with something else.”
They return the girls to Kate that evening for their time with her and explain what happened. Being with Kate for so long, Henrique knew she was miffed but let it go. “It’s fine.” She told them.
“I still think I’m going to talk to the girls.” [Y/N] said as they were leaving.
“Awww….but it’s so cute!” Henrique insisted, but agreed maybe a new name was best.
Gerhard usually doesn’t like parties, but he would make an exception for Angelico’s birthday. Or at least he would this year.
In the past Angelico’s birthday was past over with littler recognition or acknowledgement. Much like his own birthday as a child. But with this new plan Dali had thrust upon them on being more active in their children’s lives, it seemed that they had to make some sort of showing for the day. Gerhard wouldn’t let his own son be shown up by Raphael’s party.
“He’s completely tuckered out.” [Y/N] whispered as she carried Angelico to his bed with Gerhard in toe.
“He should be.” He commented. “I don’t think he sat down all day.”
[Y/N] smiled and tucked Angelico in. Petting his hair softly in affection. “Goodnight mama…” Her hand stopped and flinched away when the boy spoke in his sleep before going back to soft snores.
“D-Did you hear that?”
Gerhard shrugged and told [Y/N] that he didn’t know what she was talking about, even though he heard it too. “He called me ‘mama’.”
“He must be dreaming.” Gerhard reasoned. Although, he didn’t know what Angelico would be dreaming of his mother. He never knew her and had no memory of the woman. And he had no interest in bringing that woman up in their lives. “Let us go to bed.”
[Y/N] hung her head but followed after Gerhard. The conversation ended as he didn’t want to talk about it, and [Y/N] did not seem brave enough to question on Angelico’s birthday.
Dali and his new wife dancing alone in their room and he feels so happy and complete.
The carriage arrived at the Delico manor. A footman quickly descending from the back to open the door for the master of the house, who strode into the guiled home with ease.
Dali let out a relieved sigh as the door closed behind him. Feeling the weight of the outside world leave his shoulders, along with his outer cloak. He then made his way upstairs. Even though it was late, Dali went to check on the children before heading into his own room. Smiling fondly as he found them asleep, and [Y/N] in their room at the vanity. “You’re back. How did it go?”
“Boring.” Dali commented at [Y/N]’s inquiry about the evening. Undoing the buttons on his uniform. “But…it went well.”
One of the things they did not tell new recruits about when they joined VLAD was that there would be an expectation for them to attend parties. Balls. Social political events. Functions for the academy. It was rare, and not nearly as often as the detailed social calendar of most nobles in society, but given how dry they often were Dali thought that it made them that much worse. He honestly wouldn’t go if it wasn’t mandatory. And this time he had a perfect excuse not to!
The boys had fallen ill. A small cold, but it seemed to be that much worse for their small little bodies. Especially Ul. Dali wanted to stay home but [Y/N] compromised that they would stay home and he could go to the ball. Dali wasn’t sure how that was a reasonable compromise, as now he had to go to the party and be without [Y/N] to keep him company, but he really didn’t feel like arguing with Johannes in the coming days. No matter how much he favored him & his sons, Dali knew the man’s patience had limits.
So, he went. Dali staying only to the minute necessary for his rank before he made his departure home. “How was your evening?”
“Good.” [Y/N] commented as they watched him undress. “We read a lot of stories. They both at dinner, though small portions. Ul’s fever broke.” Dali nodded. That was very good to hear. “They should be on the mend by tomorrow.”
“And lively as ever the day after that.” The pair chuckled at Dali’s jest.
“I’m sorry you didn’t have a good evening. Was it really all that bad?”
“Watching the plaster for the new wallpaper in the study drying was more lively that this evening.”
“Oh dear…”
“Plus,” Dali stepped forward, still in his trousers but mostly out of his shirt, and offered his hand, “there was no one to dance with.”
[Y/N] chuckled and took his hand as Dali pulled them close to begin swaying. “Really? No pretty girls? No handsome men?”
“No one at all.” Dali retorted with a smirk as he waltzed them around the room.
Surely there must have been, but Dali couldn’t see them. All he kept thinking about was getting home to his boys and [Y/N]. He had no interest in anyone else. No desire to dance except with [Y/N] anymore.
They continued their dancing around the room, before the song in Dali’s head stopped, and he kissed [Y/N] before he let them go. “Let’s get to bed. Hopefully we’ll have some energetic boys to deal with tomorrow.”
[Y/N] agreed and they finished getting ready before off to bed. Back in each other’s arms. To dance in their dreams.
