Ok, ok, ok. Getting a little emotional thinking about Tharen, Davrin's father. I haven't gotten too deep into his character yet compared to his mother and his sister, but whereas Davrin is the spitting image of his mother and learned a lot about being a hunter from her, I think he got most of his creative and artistic side from Tharen. I've established in my canon that Tharen was the one who taught Davrin the basics about how to whittle, and now I'm stuck on the idea of Tharen being the one who taught Davrin to sing to the halla. Tharen noticed that Eldrin's attempts at showing Davrin how to properly tend to them didn't always yield the best results, so he eventually took matters into his own hands, accompanied Davrin when he had time to spare from his own duties to the clan. Sometimes Tharen would bring an instrument along. Sometimes he wouldn't, but there was no doubt about it. Every time he sang, the halla would stop and listen, eager to follow after him while he journeyed along. And in time, Davrin joined in, both of them singing old Elvish songs together, smiling from ear to ear. I can just see them play fighting every now and then, Davrin rolling his eyes and scrunching his nose up at Tharen when he ruffled his hair because, "Ugh, come on, old man. I'm not a baby anymore!" Additionally, consider there was a moment when Davrin felt hesitant about singing at first, and Tharen teased him some because "What? Think you're too cool to sing a little? How'd you think I managed to impress a woman as incredible as your mama, boy? You know, there was this one song in particular that she liked..." which you bet Davrin gagged about that in the most dramatic way possible. And nope, he is not listening anymore!
