She’s up to her elbows in grease and gunk from a car that’s well overdue for a tune up and an oil change. Flat on her back on a tarp that’ll prevent most of the fluids coming out of the vehicle from staining the concrete floor, and honestly, Zoe is in heaven. Her favorite place to be, besides on her bike on the open road, is right here, working with her hands.
A small curse slips out as the wrench slips and she scrapes her knuckles along the chassis of the car. There’s a trickle of blood, nothing she’s not used to but she doesn’t need it getting infected either so in a movement she slides out from beneath a few tons of metal and heads to the sink at the corner of the shop. Water runs freely over the cut, a little bigger than she expected, but not too deep, and upon first inspection she doesn’t think it’ll require stitches.
“Hey, where’d Alex put the first aid kit? I gotta wrap this up so I can get back to —” Zoe was talking to the silhouette of who she figured was one of the guys from the shop. She was wrong. “Lance. Hey, I — didn’t actually know if you were serious ‘bout comin’ by...”
