5. What’s something you learned while researching a fic?
So much, but I guess the one topic I always end up researching is sex work in various time periods. You know you're in deep when you can tell you the prices of victorian age sex workers? Uhm. Also learned about crop farming during the tang dynasty!
27. Are any of your stories inspired by personal experience?
Yes, and no - I tend to dream more on the canon divergence scale, so that's a "no". However, I write a lot of trans fic, and that is obviously driven by me being trans. I guess the closest you'd come would be my Batman fic "Cause Heaven Only Knows" because I really was working through some things there.
31. What fic meant the most to you to write?
oh shit. can't just pick one fic. but hm let me look through my AO3 and name a couple.
Thread: What do Ancient Greek myths tell us about the Greek view of Omegas? - unironically, I loved writing this because it was the first time in uff I think two-ish years nearly that I collaborated with @ghostwriterofthemachine again and writing together with Poet really means a lot to me
swan upon leda because I think it's the first time I tackles writing about sexual assault in such a way? It's a topic that crops up a lot in my writing because all things bodily autonomy lingers and this story (and it's sequels) explores that quite heavily
ultra vires meant a lot to me too because I had a bangers time collaborating on it. I think we wrote that in a day?
Then. oh god. this isn't even published (are we ever going to publish this @clownzle? might need to rework some parts since I got a more stable grasp on Alexei'S characterization now) but the 22k insane roses & champagne OC crossoever fanfic I wrote with them. do you know the level of brainworms you need to have to write 22k of your literal OC children from different fics meeting.
there is no other immortality becuase I wrote that for my good friend @thenegoteator after being possesed by the spirit of how han yoojin is still the older brother to a dead child.
weeds in the garden becuase there are not enough mpreg abortion fics ngl hahaha.
everything associted with Heart Language because language means so much to me - and by god, I made a lot of good friends. experienced a lot of ugly things too, but most was good. it gave me words of my own when I didn't have any.
forever fifteen - still one of my favorite fanfics because the concept of it has haunted me since I was sixteen and I finally wrote it in my 20s
literally and of my One Piece fanfics focused on Dragon and this is not a place of worship (hold my drowning) because I think that series has an absolute bangers idea and my writing style grew a lot working on it!
are you up at 3 a.m. I’m fading out of consciousness because this was first time doing a shitton of HTML on fic and I am STILL so god damn proud of that. which you can tell because it's the only fic I fixed my embedded images on so far lmao.
'Cause Heaven Only Knows as I mentioned before, for me, learning to let go.
I guess my takeaway is that I miss writing collab fic and brainstorming a story with somebody else until early in the morning. There are a lot more stories I could put here, but it mostly comes down to what the people I wrote it for/around the stories mean or meant to me at the time. Some, I no longer talk to - others I'm saving up money to actually go visit.
Writing has shaped my life and, frankly speaking, got me through some if not all of my worst days. I'm glad for all of these stories, the unfinished ones, the ones I had to force myself to vomit up through my own insecurities. They're all me and my thoughts.
