Soooo.
Bad news. The lump on the gum? It’s there because the tooth is dead. I have been referred to a third dental specialist to get a root canal. The appointment is tomorrow, so hopefully we can get this done before I end up with a matching hole to go with the one on the right side of my jaw. Also hopefully it doesn’t hurt too much, and I don’t have too horrible a panic attack over the whole thing.
In better news? The missing cat, the cat I was going to make a side trip to check the shelter for, the cat I had sadly concluded was probably dead? He showed up this morning.
He does not seem to be injured. No wounds, nothing swollen, no obvious signs of serious illness. He’s walking slowly, so there may be pulled muscles, but it’s not stopping him from contorting himself into the “lick my junk” position.
What he seems to be is traumatized. He spent a lot of time crying at all and sundry, and only calmed down with petting and gentle cuddling. I took him upstairs to my room, and he’s been hanging out with the cat who mothers everyone. He’s drunk water a few times, and ate a couple of cat treats, but hasn’t seemed interested in food so far. Hopefully he won’t need an emergency vet visit (at least not one before I can get the damn tooth taken care of.)
In weird news, I’m sore where my right leg meets the hip for unknown reasons. Feels like I got kicked there or something. Which I would assume to be “cat impact from high drawers”, except I woke up with it, and that’s the side I was lying on, so a propelled cat injury seems unlikely. I must have pulled something in my sleep, as it only aches when I move, and there’s no sharp stabby pains. I may have reached a new level of out of shape, if I’m injuring myself while sleeping.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go google the dentist’s address, and then have a panic attack before bedtime.
