Dan Birthday Post:

I first saw “Basically, I’m Gay” the week it came out in 2019. I didn’t know about Dan and Phil as a duo, but that video changed the course of my life. I really accepted myself as a lesbian and came out just a few months after watching that video. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

Over this past few months, I have become a fan of Dan and Phil as a duo and of the fan community that surrounds them. I rewatched “Basically, I’m Gay” in November, and I finally came out to my dad as nonbinary in January. Dan Howell has helped me have the courage to be honest about who I am with the people I love, and I’m grateful for his role in my journey with queerness, and for his comedy and the videos that have quickly become comfort watches from both Dan solo and with Phil.
