On October 30, 1994, the 5th Simpons' "Treehouse of Horror V" aired. It started with a parody of the Outer Limits. It was the first Treehouse special to not have gag name credits. They also did away with introductions to each segment. It was also the first Treehouse special not to have a parody segment based on the Twilight Zone. The three parts were "The Shinning" (a parody of Stephen King's "The Shining"), "Time and Punishment" (based on Ray Bradbury's "A Sound of Thunder"), and "Nightmare Cafateria", where teacher's cannibalize their students. LEGENDARY The Simpsons writer Dan McGrath has died at the age of 61, his family announced.
The award-winning comedy writer, who also worked on Saturday Night Live, died following a stroke, his sister said.
Gail Garabadian wrote on Facebook: “We lost my incredible brother Danny yesterday. He was a special man, one of a kind.
“An incredible son, brother, uncle and friend. Our hearts are broken.”
She told Hollywood Reporter that he passed away at NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn.

On October 28, 1993, the Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror IV" aired. The wrap-around segments were done in a parody of the "Night Gallery" anthology series with Bart in the position of Rod Serling. The three segments were "The Devil and Homer Simpson" (based on "The Devil and Daniel Webster"), "Terror at 5 1/2 Feet" (based on the Twilight Zone episode and movie segment "Terror at 20,000 Feet" with Bart taking the William Shatner/John Lithgow role), and "Bart Simpson's Dracula" (based on various vampire tales, in particular "Bram Stroker's Dacula", "Nosferatu" and "The Lost Boys".)
