six of crows by leigh bardugo basically took over my life in 2018 (sorry not sorry inej ghafa owns my entire heart). i watched all the fanvids, made a bujo spread (which i do plan to post here soon), and screamed over all the fan art. i wasn’t expecting to like it v much b/c i remember not liking the shadow and bone trilogy at all. but it’s actually v good, super diverse, interesting, and well written (which in ya fantasy is basically a godsend). and then CROOKED KINGDOM wrecked the FUCK out of me. i’m making my brother re-read the duology w me (he’s never read them before) and he likes them a lot too! we’re currently on ck, and you can find his thoughts on soc buried in my tag for the series. my favorite ship from soc would probably have to be kanej, tho wesper and nina x matthias are close fuckin seconds. honestly all the soc couples are goals and i stan. (except maybe kuwei x jesper; was not a fan of that one). if you haven’t read it (which i seriously doubt b/c apparently all of book tumblr read these for some reason) you definitely should check it out!
however, a lot of ships also had me fangirling in 2018-pynch from the raven cycle (i love adam and ronan sm-MY PRECIOUS MAGIC BEANS), omar and ander from elite + isak and even from skam (i live for these kind of unlikely coming-out ships even though i did have some serious issues w the rest of these shows), diego x henry from we are the ants (so soft, so brutal, the slowest of slow burns), aled x daniel from radio silence (yes, aled had some issues that made him not always the best boyfriend, but the way this was handled in the book gave me ALL the feels), eleanor and park from the book of the same name (i love them sm what can i say; though this book has some issues and uncomfortable moments it is really cute) tyrion and shae from game of thrones (funny b/c i remember them making me v uncomfortable in the books but PETER DINKLAGE COME ON) and of course aristide and cyril from amberlough (if lara elena donelly doesn’t give these two a happy ending she better be ready to square tf up) also i still love tain hu x baru (traitor baru cormorant, a great but underrated lesbian alternate universe novel), ben x leslie from parks and rec, and jim x pam from the office.
