I was watching #DirtyDancing the other night and couldn’t help but imagine a fic where professional dancer Eddie working at a resort for the summer as the dance instructor. There for the summer is rich preppy boy Steve Harrington. Sought after by all due to daddies lucrative ties, money but foremost how gorgeous he is (Steve).

Not Eddie assuming Harrington is the typical resort snob while Steve pines over the gorgeous dance instructor with the luscious long locks, toned physique and dangerous way about him. Finding ways to have them interact, be that by buying private dance lessons, even though he is a well off dancer. Not having Nancy Wheeler be his instructor the first few times until he request Eddie.

Which gives everyone more reason to loath Munson even more because he’s all about controversy, stirring the pot all while smiling deviously, not to mention two males as dance partners, nay-nay.

Not Steve assuming Nancy and Eddie are an item when he witnesses them tenderly embracing and kiss, not realizing they only see one another as platonic soulmates.

That is until Argyle spills the beans when Steve tags along for a staff bash in their quarters, where immense shenanigans ensue. A pickle of all pickles only Steve can help them out of.

Where both males bond, Eddie realizing there’s more to Steve than he ever gave thought too.

Steve finding out Eddie is bi-sexual and offers his love to all the wrong people of the resort that use him for sex.

Not Eddie and Steve being stranded, arguing then talking, finally kissing and taking that leap and sleeping together… HUGE dance sequence and SURPRISE!! We love one another! Deal with it!

is trans woman.

Yes, you read that right, this character is a woman.

Well, let’s ask someone who plays the game in Japanese. oh wait, I’ve found someone who live-blogged the game when it first came out.

let’s transcribe the note shall we.

[[This character is the Dance Instructor who choreographes for TakuraPro’s idols. While her physique and voice are clearly masculine, she refers to herself as female a couple of times and none of the other characters ever even comment on it. For that reason, I am going to be referring to her by female pronouns, even if I am not entirely sure if she is supposed to be a Trans woman or a Drag Queen. Note here that there are *no* third person pronouns in Japanese (and the closest equivalent to them that there is is barely ever used in everyday conversations) and gendered nouns are somewhat rare too, so a direct translation is pretty much impossible in cases like this one. So don’t be surprised if the official localization ends up using different pronouns. This has been a PSA.]]

So yes, the localization actually changed her from a trans woman into a gay man. It’s mainly because of the note that says “While her physique and voice are clearly masculine, she refers to herself as female a couple of times and none of the other characters ever even comment on it.” 

Despite the note after that statement, it doesn’t change the fact that the Dance Instructor refers to herself as a woman, and AtlusUSA/AtlusWest changed that.

Yes, this game was liveblogged before the localization was released, meaning, the person who liveblogged this game knows both Japanese and English.

You can’t find this in the MegamiTensei wiki, because frankly that wiki is filled with loads of unverified information. Try to find information about megami tensei and persona games from other sources and avoid using the megamitensei wiki. [Edit: the fact that the character uses female pronouns can be found in the trivia section of her character page, but she literally identifies herself as a woman, which means she is a trans woman.]

Frankly I trust live-bloggers more than I trust the megami-tensei wiki.
