In 2017, Random Acts conspired with @gishwhes to fundraise for Dancescape South Africa in hopes of keeping Fiona Sargeant's dream alive after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Not only do our supporters step up to the plate, you exceeded all expectations. We want to take a moment to say thank you for all that you do to help make this world a kinder place.

Let's Raise Money for Fiona!! Fiona Sargeant, a former ballet dancer from England, founded and runs a ballet school in an impoverished township in South Africa that for years has provided ballet instruction, meals, education, safe refuge and ultimately hope for hundreds of children. She is not a doctor, nor running a large foundation or charity, but she does know how to dance and she wanted to give back to the world. She is the living proof that EVERYONE can make a difference, if their heart is behind what they’re doing. Sadly, Fiona has terminal cancer and only has weeks to live. Once she passes, she expects the school to be shut down. But there is a plan in motion that, if funded, would carry on her legacy. Let’s grant her dying wish and let her know that her children will be taken care of long after she is gone. Even if you can't donate, spread the word. What Fiona's doing is so amazing and there are so many children who take part in her classes. Find it in your heart to give or share her story.

We regret to report that after a valiant battle with cancer, our dear friend, Dancescape founder Fiona Sargeant, has passed away. As gishers will no doubt remember, Fiona spent her life helping young dancers’ dreams come true through her work at Dancescape ballet school in South Africa. We’re glad that gishers could help in some small way to preserve her legacy, and we send our deepest condolences to her family and friends.
