This is a double: Which fandoms are you currently writing? Which fandoms do you WISH you were currently writing but It Is Just Not Happening?

I am contemplating a very sideways and not very canonical at all thing for CATS because I have loved the musical since my tweens and I am still absolutely in awe over how amazing and terrible the 2019 movie was and want to do...something...about it. In both senses of the word “about”. But my Jellicles are far less human than the Furry-adjacent nearly human beings from the stage show and the screen. I am honestly not sure how the fandom will take it.

I don’t actually write fanfiction otherwise, I simply don’t feel comfortable with it. Not because I am opposed or think it beneath me. Quite the contrary. I am actually not sure enough of my skill and my memory to write something attempting to be canon, and I don’t tend to have extracanonical or AU ideas. I’m very very good at characterization for my own characters. I don’t have that confidence with other people’s characters.

I do respect and support fanfiction, and I read (and comment!) in a small handful of fandoms. Paid AO3 member for years now, and very happily so.

1: What was the first fandom and/or pairing that you wrote fic for?

If we’re talking first fandom ever, it was fairy tales. In the sixth grade, I wrote my own version of Beauty and the Beast that featured vampires. XD I was vaguely inspired by the Disney movie, but since it was my favorite fairy tale, I read every version of it I could get my hands on.

12: Is there a trope you haven’t written yet but really want to?

I’ve never written a Regency AU, which honestly is a criminal oversight on my part. XD Other than that, I’m sure the answer is yes, but I’m having a hard time calling others to mind right now!

13: Is there a trope you wouldn’t write if it was the last trope on earth?

Soulmate AUs. I detest the whole idea of soulmates IRL, and I detest the tropes related to it in fandom too. I find the idea that there’s one person you’re “destined for” to be loathsome in general.

I used to. I got really bad chapped lips when I was a teenager. Doesn’t seem to happen nearly as much anymore.

Have you ever been attacked by a bird?

never by a wild bird but i once owned a bird that was very aggressive and didn’t like people at all and was very bitey (looking back now i was in no way suited to owning a bird then and neither was my mother and the poor thing was probably bored out of her mind and stressed to all hell and i don’t blame her. i hope the family we gave her to took better care of her)

also my sister’s bird(s) have attacked my ears with their noises

EXAMINE: the body

To say that there are signs of a struggle would be an understatement. Somehow, even with the blank stare of the dead, there is a palpable sense of indignation from the corpse. Or maybe that’s just the red, fleshy thing clenched in her teeth. In her left hand, a pistol has clearly done double duty as a projectile weapon and club, caked in blood and thicker things. Her right arm is missing below the elbow. You dutifully begin photographing the body with your Orochi tablet when it suddenly disintegrates before you. The body, its clothes and even the gun are gone. Your tablet pings.

“Don’t bother. Run.”
