Thank all of you so much for putting up with my dumbassery. I adore each and everyone of you. I know I haven’t been writing lately and the long and short of it is I fell into a slump that I’m still fighting with but know that I love all of you and you are the reason I have any motivation to write at all.
I just want...to be held by and given the softest of forehead kisses from one (1) chiss grand admiral. Is that too much to ask for?
I’ve got four Thrawn fics sitting in my drafts. Wth is going on with me?
*chanting aggressively in my head*
Thrawn, Thrawn, Thrawn, Thrawn, Eli?, Thrawn, Thrawn,....
I just realized how that comment from Nala Se about the “chips were supposed to make the clones less aggressive” might’ve affected Fives more than we thought.
There’s a few moments where we can see Fives’s face fall right after Nala Se explains the inhibitor chips’ fake purpose and in the context of the scene it portrays perfectly how betrayed Fives must feel to basically be told “Hey, the Jedi don’t trust you or your brothers not to fucking kill them” (and Tup’s episode plays into this perfectly).
Despite Pong Krell, we know that Fives is devastatingly loyal to his vode and to the Jedi. It’s why he asks for Rex and Skywalker - because he still trusts Skywalker to help him in some form. So to be told that the group you’ve placed your complete trust in doesn’t trust you back is devastating on its own.
But add to that “aggression”.
Every time we see the clones interact with touch and each other it’s always pretty gentle: a nudge here, a bump of the shoulder, or that solid grasp some of them do on another’s shoulder. But it’s always gentle with the others.
Except for Fives who is constantly (jokingly) shoving and forcefully pushing his brothers (somebody compiled an “I’ve just been hit by Fives” still image collage for Christ’s sake). By all accounts he is more aggressive. And I think that got to him. I think Fives realized it and immediately internalized it but it got worse after he was drugged.
In the bathroom scene with Kix where he’s trying to vaguely explain what’s happening Five’s grabs him by the shoulders and jostles him quite a bit while he talks before shoving him away. But when he grabs his arm to give him the coordinates - he doesn’t yank on his arm. He’s pretty gentle actually.
I dunno - I just think that there was a little more weight behind the aggression thing than we realized that might have gotten to Fives.
Wanna hear the idea I just came up with?
Grand Admiral Thrawn in a relationship with a rebel whose the child of Tarkin.
Dunno why but I think there’s a lot of potential there.
Maybe???
Y’all I just realized that in the Mortis arc-
We’ve got the father, the daughter, and the son with no mother.
In the og trilogy-
We’ve got the father, the daughter, and the son with no mother.
If Anakin had stayed and brought Padmé with him, I’m convinced the cycle would just repeat. One child would fall, one would remain loyal to the light, and Anakin would remain to balance it. But it doesn’t happen like that. Instead, the father falls and the two children have to balance it. Until one falls out of favor with the light and one dies and the force has to try and balance itself again.
But, y’know what else we get in the Mortis arc?
The Jedi, the chosen one, and the padawan.
Obi-Wan takes the role of the father to balance out Ahsoka and Anakin who fill the roles of the daughter and the son respectively as their journeys progress.
Anyways, the force is perpetually being balanced and unbalanced and in the tumultuous shifting of its will, it is balanced.
