Psi came to with a low groan, a dull thudding behind his eyelids. As consciousness returned he realised he was slumped uncomfortably over the control panel he’d been interfacing with-- the cord still connected his augments to the data port. There was a persistent beeping coming from somewhere, but he ignored it for the time being as he tried to piece together what had happened. He remembered breaking into the building and splitting off from River, starting a download of encrypted Alliance data..... and then he must have blacked out.
This wasn’t the first time he’d overloaded himself - far from it - but it was the first time in years. He thought he’d managed to fix this particular glitch, but perhaps he needed to run a few diagnostics when they got back to the ship.
He straightened, rolling his neck a little, and identified the beeping as an incoming comms signal. Better answer that.
“River—!” His voice came out a little rough, so he cleared his throat and tried again. “Uh-- hey. I’m almost done.”
