So FamilyJules organized a kind of collection, made up of covers of the Crypt of the Necrodancer songs, made by fans and I was very lucky to be part of this! It should show up on the Steam Workshop soon!
I got to take over the Zone 3-2 Dance of the Decorous soundtrack, which is one of my favorites and did it with my metal guitar spice eyy!
As usual, I was exaggerating with the recording. Being picky about it, deleting tracks that were actually alright to use and so on. But a good lesson came outta this. I was bleeding like crazy while recording the bass guitar tracks, which just made me unable to record for several days. This pushed the whole schedule really close to the deadline (although not so strict), so I had to drop my stupid habit of deleting tracks that were OK. Was a nice challenge to race against time with this one.
Mixingwise, I tried to right all my wrongs, that I did in the past with Ground Crunch, which was especially - not working with volume on the individual tracks. I didn’t move them at all in my last tracks, which was a big mistake! I was technically doing everything at full blast and trying to fix it with EQ. What a moron.
But this time, I tried to do everything methodically - Volume, EQ, Compression all that and then Mastering. Now, I got my hands on a nice mastering tool, that REALLY changed the sound of the original just EQd version. Everything sounded great! (At least I had to convince myself that it sounds great) Then I couldn’t decide if I should go for 5.7 or 5.8 decibels - Story of my life.
Enjoy! Was a lot of fun doing this!
