Okay but if Stede did the “unhand me or bleed” thing to Izzy, Izzy would be WEAK for him immediately

Specific costuming choices/character design details that give me incredible amounts of gender envy, in increasing order of how much gender envy they give me:

1. Ed's asymmetrical sleeves and the tattoos on his right arm + the kohl(?) on his face in the Kraken persona

2. Izzy's puffy/billowy sleeves + asymmetrical gloves (also can we appreciate how good these three look together? This is what I thought I looked like in middle school and needless to say I did not look anywhere near this cool)

3. Jim's hat + their long coat (basically Jim's entire character design is a Gender)

Whoever did the character design and costuming seriously deserves a round of applause for making all of them unique and visually engaging!!

Okay I’ve seen lots of people talking about neurodivergence in OFMD and how Stede and Ed both come off as autistic/ADHD, and how Izzy comes off as the only neurotypical character.

And sorry if someone else has had this thought already, but,,, consider the tables being turned.

Maybe Izzy himself isn’t neurodivergent, but when I look at him I can see a neurodivergent person who has worked very hard to follow social rules only to see that he's losing to someone the rules don't apply to. He’s been following the rules this whole time, being a proper pirate, respecting his captain, doing his work, all that jazz, and then along comes Stede fuckin’ Bonnet who never plays by the rules but somehow everything seems to work out for him.

I understand how frustrating that must feel, as someone who feels like I’ve had to work 24/7 my whole life to understand all the little things that are expected of me socially, and then when other people come along and break the social rules but they don’t face any sort of consequence, hell yeah I feel cheated.

I understand how angry Izzy must be, to have followed the rules of being a pirate for so long only to have it thrown back in his face by the most disrespectful, incompetent group of pirates he’s ever met, led by a captain who has never known what it means to be a pirate and yet still everything manages to go right for him. Stede is loved, but Izzy still doesn't fit in/belong where he wants to belong.

Okay I know we all love to drag Izzy and love the idea of him being really pissed off having to officiate Ed and Stede’s wedding, but consider this,,,

It’s the series finale: Ed and Stede have gotten each other back and everyone’s experienced growth and healing, everyone is getting their happy ending, Izzy has been redeemed after hitting rock bottom cause I want that to happen to him first, and he’s happily officiating their wedding cause they’re all friends now
