Dragon Age: Origins Graphic Mod List (2025)
I was recently asked again how my DAO game looks so fresh. So, here's an updated list of mods I recommend to anyone who still wants the classic game aesthetic but with prettier graphics.
Remember to first patch your game with the 4GB Patch to avoid crashes on modern computers!
Origin Keepsakes on NexusMods
I did it! Well, kind of. I still haven't managed to do the scripting thing, so I resorted to the extremely clumsy replacement of UTCs and UTPs, but nevertheless: it's done. My first Dragon Age mod!
For the Couslands who kept the Family Sword and Shield of Highever; for the Broscas who loved their sister and, somehow, their mother. Dear roleplayer, this mod is for you.
Adds lore-friendly, roleplay-heavy accessories to the origins, so that your Warden can have something of home and family to hold on to. And perhaps someday, you might feel close enough to your companions to entrust them with your cherished keepsakes...
COUSLAND Wardens will receive two rings. BROSCA Wardens will receive a necklace and a ring.

Dragon Age Mod Rec List for All Four Games!
I like to categorize my da modding shenanigans in one place and I've decided to turn it into a rec list. Each game is separated into their own tab with a drop down for each category of mod. Also each tab starts with a page linking a tutorial and needed resources for modding each game for anyone new or just forgetful (me lol). I'll try my best to keep this updated. Feel free to make a copy and use as a template for your own lists.
I'm not sure when I'll get to play DAO, but if you don't mind sharing your mod list, I would love to save it for when I get to play 🥹
And THANK YOU for the detailed instructions!!
Of course!!
For those catching up, I posted a quick guide to how to fix DAO so that it is playable on PC (it crashes otherwise). If you need a detailed explanation for how to mod on DAO, then I have a doc here that goes into detail, since modding in DAO is confusing and no one explains it well.
My DAO modlist is below the cut!
what fucking ever with this mod honestly. alistair. alistair that is no normal caress to an elf you've only met like. hours ago. alistair. get up.
Finally settled on my custom look for Sten! It was tougher than I expected. Most of the high-quality mods for Sten are designed to be used with the Qunari Update mod, which gives Sten the head and body of the Qunari from DA2.
Personally, I don't use Qunari Update because to me he doesn't look like Sten anymore. So I had to throw together my own mashup of mods to get him looking "improved" but still close enough to his vanilla self to be recognizable as Sten.
I may release a version of this on Nexus with the headmorph, cus I had to tweak it to make the vanilla Qunari head mesh work with the beard without clipping.
