Daphne and Apollo

Apollo the son of Zeus and Leto, was the God of music, prophecy, healing and medicine according to the ancient greek mythology. Apollo and Daphne’s love story begun when Eros (cupid) wanted revenge over Apollo for mocking his archery skills. He also wanted to demonstrate the power of love, so he shot Apollo and instantly made him fall in love with Daphne. Daphne was a nymph who was associated with fountains, water, and fresh streams, and nature.  She was also daughter of the river god Peneus. She abhorred the idea of love because she was obsessed with nature, but Apollo was incredibly in love with her and every move she made. Soon, Daphne became too sick and tired of Apollo and his affection that she cried to her father, “Help me Peneus!”, then her father turned her into a Laurel tree to escape Apollo.
