Belated thoughts on Daredevil: season 1, episode 1
*some quotes paraphrased cause I watched this a while ago
-I love the way this show just plunges you right into caring about everyone and I did! I even cared about the dad whose daughter was held hostage even though he tries to kill Karen. He was handed an impossible choice and he still made a bad one but. Watching him watch his daughter and know that her life is in his hands? Seeing the agony on his face? Ouch.
-I like the bad guy even though I don’t and even though he’s not the Big Bad. I just think he’s a GOOD bad guy. He’s scary and composed and calm and horrible.
-Karen going back for the flash drive even though she said she wouldn’t and Matt rescuing her but not telling her- ah the complex web of lies and secrets and deceptions we’re already being pulled into. I was of course mad she went back but also clearly there’s more to her story and I welcome the layers.
-Foggy hugging Karen when she tries to leave because she’s so upset 😭
-Also when Matt went to confession at the beginning and was like “I’m not asking for forgiveness for what I have done” I was sitting there going “please don’t do it Matt” and then he was like “it’s for what I’m about to do”. Me: oh my gosh Matt.
-“I can’t trust your judgment where beautiful women are concerned.” “How would I even know she’s beautiful?” “I don’t know. It’s uncanny. But if there is a beautiful woman with questionable character in the room Matt Murdoch is right there and Foggy Nelson is the one who suffers for it.” Matt is so that guy, you know? You can already tell. No wonder this show has 7 different ships.
-when Karen nodded to Matt instead of answering and then there was that pause and then Matt goes “did you just nod” I would die for that moment
-It feels like fairytale meets superhero meets found family drama I love it so much
-The three of them teaming up at the end and eating dinner. TOO CUTE.
-I’d die for all of them already.
- Charlie Cox has eyes like a puppy dog and a smile like the SUN. It’s a Lot.
