Your ex, Mark Grayson, comes over to get his things...
Word Count: 3.4k
“You sure you'll be okay?” Eve asked, one eyebrow raised in concern. You nodded immediately, huffing a bit as you angrily folded the last of the shirts. He had so many fucking clothes over at your apartment.
Two years of dating would do that, though.
“Yep, I'm sure, E. We dated for two years, and we’re adults,” You promised, slinging the shirt into a cardboard box with a bit more force than necessary. “Even if only one of us acts like it.”
“Maybe this is a bad idea.” Eve started, pushing herself up from lying on her forearms. She was watching you from your bed, already dressed for her shift at… God, where did she work again? She was always there; you should've been able to recall her job, but…
Your mind was preoccupied.
“No. It needs to be done. I'm fine. He's fine, clearly, if he's already slept with Amber Bennett.”
“I don't—”
“It's not as if it's only been a few weeks. Bet she's not ‘controlling,’ and ‘crazy,’ and as ‘up his ass’ as much as I supposedly was,” You continued slamming the flaps of the box closed.
“Oh…that’s not—”
“Really, I'm good. He can fuck whoever. And so can I—”
Eve sighed, a low, disappointed sound, finally standing from your bed.
“What does that mean?”
“It means I'm getting my roster back out,” you whispered smugly, ignoring the dread bubbling in your stomach. It curdled with the bitter ache already there. “Give him a taste of his own medicine.”
Eve adjusted her shirt, slipping her sneakers on as she rolled her eyes.
“I don't think that's a good idea.”
“I know you don't.”
“Whatever. I'll see you both later tonight. You know, when you’re trying to sneak him into your bed.”
Your eyes shot open, and your head whipped around to catch the door clicking closed. You scoffed, hands on your hips, as you started after her.
“Right. As if.”
ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦
You glowered at him with rage you ancestors would be proud of, following his every move in your apartment.
Mark barely glanced at you as he entered the apartment with unwelcome familiarity, slinging his keys on the counter. You ignored the way your heart ached as he passed you, the scent of his cologne making your stomach drop. You ignored the lump in your throat, the faint burning in your eyes.
This had to happen.
“Your shit is right there,” you muttered when he tried to head toward your room. Mark stilled, back still toward you as his head pivoted to the left.
“Great. Thanks,” he deadpanned, examining the state of the box his stuff was piled into. You might've dropped it once… or twice… So what?
“So, how ya been, Mark?” you began, arms crossed over your chest. “Oh! I know! You've been doing super well, I hear.”
Mark exhaled deeply through his nose, ignoring you as he combed through the box.
“Don't give me that right now, please.”
You rolled your eyes, the venom behind your teeth aching to be spilled.
“Oh, did I upset you? Gonna go have Amber make it better?” you cooed viciously. “Again.”
“I'm not getting into this with you,” Mark shot down, voice low. You steadied yourself, swallowing the anger sizzling in your throat. You watched as Mark gathered the box with surprising ease. He finally turned to you, and time seemed to still.
You caught his gaze, his chocolate eyes widening as they landed on yours. And they softened, regret and sadness flooding them.
You took a deep breath, your heart all but throbbing.
God, why couldn't he have treated a ‘break’ like a normal person?
You stood there for another moment, just staring at each other. And then, when it looked as if Mark was going to start talking, you turned away.
“Get out,” you whispered, your fire smothering with each agonizing heartbeat, holding your door open. Mark scoffed, shaking his head as he heaved the box out of your apartment. He turned at the last second, eyebrow quirked.
“Where’s my Upstate hoodie?”
You slammed the door in his face before he could get another word out.

“How’d it go?” Eve asked later over the phone, ignoring how your voice was thick with tears.
“Fine,” you mumbled, burrowing deeper into your blankets. You reluctantly pulled Mark’s Upstate hoodie tighter around your body. “It went fine.”

You nursed your lukewarm beer with a vengeance, gripping it like it was a weapon.
It was a sound output for the rage. The rage, which had refound you as soon as you walked through Kappa Sig's door, eyes landing on Mark in the corner. With, wouldn't ya guess it, Amber.
Now, maybe he was in a group, and maybe he wasn't talking directly to her, but still.
It felt like salt in the wound.
“Uh oh,” Eve groaned from beside you, her hair nearly glowing in the flashing neon lights. “Please, for the love of God—”
“I said I'm fine,” you interrupted, jutting your chin towards her. “So it'll be fine.”
“Right,” William agreed, coming to interlock his arm with yours. “Besides, she knows not to ruin my birthday.”
You rolled your eyes, shoving William off playfully and heading further into the frat house and to the very beer that you were now nursing.
“Stop glowering,” Eve tutted, knocking your hip with hers gently. “Itll give you premature wrinkles.”
“ I am not…” You began, but quickly trailed off. You were. If looks could kill, Mark Grayson would be six feet under.
The low baseline seemed to thrum within your blood, your gaze drawn to him like he was some sort of magnet. He was laughing, his arm resting on the fireplace mantle on the other side of the room, his pretty dimples on display for everyone but you.
How could he laugh, you wondered, frowning down at your beer.
Distantly, you felt someone slide up next to you, to your left.
“Well, look who we have here.”
Your eyebrows arched to the heavens, head whipping to the side. A smile the size of the moon grazed your face, eyes alight for the first time in weeks.
“Rex,” You exclaimed, finding a matching grin on the man before you. Rex greeted you with a wink before leaning forward to brush a kiss against your cheek. Eve tensed beside you, squeezing your wrist in excitement.
“I thought you—” you began, nearly speechless as you leapt into his arms. Rex’s hands flew to your waist instantly, squeezing you. “Mark told me you were out of the country! God, I thought something had happened!”
Rex’s smile faltered, eyes turning glassy, before his expression snapped back. Almost like it never happened… Weird.
“Yeah, I went to…” He began, voice drowning out in the wake of Pitbull.
“Rehab,” Eve finished quickly.
“Rehab?” you repeated, your face scrunched up in confusion.
“Well, yes,” Rex agreed slowly, nodding. “I was uhhh… Rehabilitated…”
You missed the glance Eve gave Rex over your shoulder. But you did give Rex a long look, wondering what had gotten into him.
“Whatever,” You acquiesced. “You're here! You’re fine and here,” you exclaimed, your hand grasping his upper arm.
And for the first time in weeks, you forgot all about your troubles. You truly were fine.
Mark Grayson, however, was not.
He stared you down—had been the moment you walked in. He was just quick enough to glance away when you would look over. Now, he didn’t care if you caught him.
Not when Rex Sloan was all over you.
Mark watched you, jaw tight enough to shatter his teeth, as you laughed and reclined into Rex’s space.
That piece of shit was smug about it, too, his arm resting lightly around your shoulders. And when the red-headed bastard leaned in and whispered something to you, when his lips grazed your ear?
Mark saw red.
“I gotta pee, hold on,” you sighed, words a bit slurred. What? Rex had brought shots! And you deserved to let go a little bit! Eve waved you off, Rex’s touch lingering on your waist as you slinked away. It left a tingle in its wake. But you weren’t sure if it was the kind you enjoyed.
But you did know it would most likely piss off Mark. Not that he was anywhere to be found, of course. Lucky you.
You slipped through the horde of grinding, sweaty bodies, passing questionable groups measuring what looked to be powder, careful to stay out of anyone’s way.
Your vision blurred with the flashing lights, a myriad of colors shooting across your retinas, swirling.
You stumbled up the stairwell, around various couples, tongue deep in each other, until you finally swung yourself around the top bannister, the bathroom line in sight.
Until, suddenly, you were ripped to the right, yelping as you were dragged into a room. You swallowed the rising nausea from the whiplash as you were thrown up against the back of the door, the party thrumming under you.
“What the hell?” You hissed, eyes focusing in to see a pair of furious amber eyes staring back at you. Ice doused your spine, your heart seizing.
“Mark?!” You blurted, shock furrowing your brows. Your ex finally stepped back, exhaling shakily as if he were on the verge of exploding. You followed him with your gaze, expecting him to explain himself… But he just… Didn’t. No, the bastard just kept slowly pacing… No, prowling.
After a minute, you scoffed, realizing he wasn’t going to say anything. It was just another ruse to ruin your night. With a huff, you whirled around and grabbed the doorknob.
You successfully pulled it open about an inch before it was slammed shut and locked, Mark’s large palm flat against the wood near your head.
“What the fuck, Mark?” You spat, spinning back around and nearly colliding with him. “Let me out.”
“No.”
Your mouth dropped open, shock igniting the burning anger deep in your bones. Mark loomed over you, caging you in between him and the door, silent as death. It only made you angrier. And in one second, your hand was by your side, and the next it was slapping Mark Grayson straight across the face.
And he didn’t move an inch. Not a smidgen of reaction from him, his face unblemished.
You bristled. What the hell?
You weren’t a superhero by any means, but you weren’t weak. That should’ve at least left a handprint.
“Tell Rex Sloan to keep his fucking paws off of you,” Mark growled, his tone sending a shiver down your spine. A predatory sense of awareness drifted over the room, settling in the space between you and Mark…The mere foot of distance.
Your nose scrunched up, the rage finally boiling up your throat and through your lips.
“Have you lost your fucking mind?!” You cried out, pushing at his chest. Mark didn’t move. “You don’t get to do this! You don’t get to be jealous when you’re the one who screwed around on me.”
“I don't care,” He ground out. “Tell him, or I will. He doesn't get to have you.”
You nearly flinched at the arrogance that seeped from his words, your head banging against the door as you reeled back.
“Fuck you,” you stated, appalled. Your bottom lip trembled, unbridled fury roaring through you.
“Fuck you!” You screamed again, slapping his chest to no avail. Mark finally gripped your wrists, pinning them up above your hand in one of his. Your chest heaved, sucking in lungfuls of air to hopefully douse the raging inferno within you. But it was Mark, his chocolate gaze a pit that you found yourself falling headfirst into, that quieted the anger. He loomed over you, forehead nearly pressed against yours, panting almost as hard as you were.
A moment passed, you searching for the answers within the man before you. Another passed, your eyes betraying you and falling to his lips, plump and parted.
And the air…Changed…Growing charged and heavy and warm.
Mark blinked, his eyes falling to your lips before dragging them back up. And a deep sense of longing bloomed in the pit of your stomach. In one second, you were pressed up against the door. In the next, you were hauled up against Mark’s chest, his mouth devouring yours.
A guttural moan ripped from within you, immediately opening your mouth as Mark’s tongue claimed yours. You fought for dominance, licking and nipping, trying to convey the depth of your hurt and want and lust and pain in one kiss. Mark kissed you deeper, winning like he always did, drinking in everything you gave him.
When he finally released your hands, they flew up to his head, tangling in his locks. And you tugged, earning a broken groan from him.
Suddenly, you were whipped around, your stomach dropping as you were tossed onto the bed in the middle of the room. You huffed as your body hit the mattress, Mark’s touch absent for mere seconds. He was on you before you could blink, incredibly fast—almost inhumanly fast— licking up the column of your throat. You arched up against him as he sucked the spot under your ear, shuddering at the pleasure tingling down your arms.
You were burning, like before, but the fire within you was a whole different inferno. It was hungry—demanding to be sated by the man above you. Your fingers slipped under the hem of his shirt, meeting pure muscle. Everywhere. Rock-hard muscle.
You stilled, eyes opening.
“Um, Mark,” You muttered between kisses. Mark hummed against your lips as a response. “Have you been working out?”
“Shut up,” He groaned, dragging your dress up and over your hips. You gasped as his fingers slipped under the hem of your panties, sliding through your—
“Fuck,” he growled, “you’re fucking soaked.”
Your eyes rolled back as he brought his pointed finger to circle your clit, starting a slow and steady pace.
“Yeah, well, I haven’t had the pleasure of getting my rocks off with the first thing that walks by.”
Mark gripped your wrists suddenly, slamming them down beside your head. You jumped as his nose brushed against yours, his eyes silencing you with their glare.
“If you don’t stop talking, I’ll be forced to find a better use for that filthy mouth of yours.”
ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦
Stars danced in your vision, exploding into rainbows with each powerful thrust. Mark rocked into you with intention—like he was reciting a prayer. Purpose interwoven in each roll of his hips, grinding against yours. One hand held him up, the other cradling your jaw.
Raw, broken noises fell from his lips, disappearing into your hair. His face was tucked into your neck. It could’ve been considered making love.
You knew better.
It was hate and pain and bitterness and jealousy fueling his thrusts and aiding you to dig your nails into his back.
You cursed loudly, arching up against him as his cock nudged against your inner walls. Pleasure swelled through you, electricity zipping down your limbs.
Marks hold tightened on your jaw. Possessively. Covetously.
“Can Rex make you feel like this?” He whispered in your ear, goosebumps flying over your skin. “Does he know just how to make you scream?”
"I hate you," you spat. Mark merely smirked, a wicked sight above you.
"No, you don't."
You mewled as he released his hold on you, hands moving to your hips and flipping you over onto your stomach.
He wasted no time angling your hips up, one palm pressing down on your spine as he lined himself up from behind and—
“Oh my God,” you gasped, hands digging into the sheets of some random person's bed.
“Nope, just me,” Mark purred, resuming his unforgiving pace. The breath was knocked out of you with each stroke, your head lolling to the side as you soared over the clouds.
“Fuck—you feel so fucking good,” Mark groaned, a bit breathless.
“Was it worth it?” You hissed through gritted teeth, even as the pleasure lulled you into a daze. Mark’s pace faltered a bit. “Maybe Rex will be too.”
He stilled completely behind you, the only sounds remaining being your combined pants and the bass below you.
Mark was quiet. His movements, however, were not. He fell forward, the hand on your spine falling to the back of your neck and pinning you to the bed.
And, good god above, he let you have it. You shrieked at the force, your body jolting forward.
“Who…” Mark grunted out, slamming against your G-Spot. “Who has you folded under them? Who am I balls deep inside of at this very moment?”
You whimpered, that glorious precipice nearing in sight.
“Me,” You whispered. Mark hummed in satisfaction, leaning over you to kiss your spine.
“That’s my good girl,” He purred, his free hand diving underneath your body to find your clit. You cried out as he began circling it furiously. You bucked against his hand, tears brimming in your eyes from the sweet overstimulation. You were so close—oh so fucking close.
Mark’s lip brushed against your ear, his breathing ragged.
“Rex doesn’t get this. Nobody gets this,” He breathed, low and final. You clenched around him. “You are mine and mine alone.”
Your vision went white as the coil in your core exploded. It was euphoria rolling in waves over you. It was so good—too good. Mark praised you softly as he worked and watched you through your orgasm, his own thrusts turning sloppy. At last, he stilled above you, coming with a shudder.
“And I’m yours.”
ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦
You slid your panties up your legs, ignoring the wetness dripping down your legs.
Mark called your name, soft and gentle.
You ignored him, zipping your dress back up. You'd leave, and this would be forgotten. That would be best. Even if Mark’s words were true. You glanced around for your shoes.
Mark called your name again, this time louder.
“Just leave it alone, Mark,” you murmured, fighting the stinging in your eyes. This, the after, was the worst.
“Please—” He began, still shirtless as he walked around the bed toward you.
“No, Mark—”
“ I never slept with Amber,” He declared, throwing his hands in the air. You froze. “It was a lie.”
A faint ringing began in your ears, the world shifting under your feet. You turned to him slowly, one strap hanging off your shoulder, one shoe in your hand.
“What?”
“I wouldn’t do that to you,” he continued, eyes pleading. “I loved you… Love you.”
Your heart tumbled, dread and confusion mixing within you.
“Then what—“
“I thought it was the best decision, us breaking up. I did it… We did it to keep you safe. To get you to hate me and create distance.”
Mark was infront of you, his hands gathering yours. Nothing in the world could've pulled you away from this moment, your heartbeat drowning out the distant party sounds. You shook your head.
“We? W-what? What are you talking about, Mark?”
His eyes were glistening when they met yours, his bottom lip trembling.
“I was wrong. I was wrong in thinking you couldn’t handle the truth. And I was wrong thinking I could be apart from you.”
And time seemed to slow to a standstill.
“I’m Invincible.”
ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦ ੈ·˖✶✦ ੈ✧˳·˖✶✦
“Where’d you slink off to tonight?” Eve asked, rubbing her temples as she filled a glass with water. You hovered by the wall, standing just beside the hallway closet.
“Nowhere,” you shrugged innocently. Eve gave you an unconvincing look, lips quirked upward.
“Mhmm, okay,” She giggled, emptying her glass and setting it in the sink. “See you guys tomorrow.”
“Night,” you waved off with a smile. You watched her as she went down the hallway and waited until her door clicked closed to move. With a deep sigh, you collapsed fully against the wall, willing your heart to calm.
“Is the coast clear?” a muffled voice snickered from within the closet. You rolled your eyes, biting your smile back as you opened the door. Mark tumbled out rather ungracefully, grinning wickedly in the low kitchen light.
“Shut up,” you hissed, swatting at his chest to stop him from laughing. Your hands tangled into his shirt, dragging him to your room. Mark, the bastard, merely planted his feet, watching and enjoying your struggle.
“Stupid…Superhero…Strength,” you grunted, tugging with all your might. Mark hummed, suddenly sweeping you off your feet and flipping you over his shoulder. You swallowed your scream as you were whisked into your room.
“Oh, I'll show you real superhero strength, baby.”
