Weird & Wonderful Wednesday
Maybe don’t read this as winter is coming and the clocks have just been set back (doh! dark at 5 now).
It’s the story of Dark Eden, a planet that is always dark. The people (532 of them) on it are descendents of astronauts who came from Earth in (their) ancient times, and live amongst the lantern trees. They do not go into the dark and cold that is outside of the lantern trees forest. That is, until John Redlantern breaks those norms and rules and goes into the dark.
There was such a cool balance between the science-ish part of it and just going with the story. I love hard Science Fiction, but, sometimes getting lost in the story like I did with this novel is really fun too. Not worrying if Eden could exist or not. It does in this story, and that’s all that matters.

For the past oh god 4 weeks or so I’ve been working on this dystopian warehouse! All major assets were built by me in Maya and then moved to Unity for final setup! (the glass was the only thing I downloaded from the asset store)
I’ve wanted to be able to make atmospheric game scenes like these for as long as I can remember, and being my first major university project I am so proud of my learning journey. It only gets better from here!
Inspired and made for the Dark Eden universe ;) may this hopefully fan your flame 🔥🔥🔥
I'm addicted to beet gazpacho and Dark Eden 🍵
Sketch of a thing I was working on but the painting looked terrible so I’m just gonna post the sketch I guess.....and figure something else out to do with it lmao
Oh man, if Viola was pissed at how much the 1st Wavers HADN’T advanced over 20 years (SUBSISTENCE FARMING!!), she would have a fucking embolism over the society in Dark Eden. One hundred and sixty-three years, with advanced future human ancestors (all two of them), and they don’t even have agriculture. No one thought to domesticate animals, or even MAKE SHOES for all that time. Oh, but they do have boats... that have remained the same for 163 years. And it just struck me that there’s pretty much no reference to art or music. MUSIC! One of the most universal human traits! No one tries to make new things for fun or practical use, everyone works their hardest to not have original thoughts. They make post-war New World look like New York.
