Quailstar scowled as she watched the few cats she had explore their new home in this dark meadow.
How dare Starclan kick her and her followers out of their home?! It was their birth right to hunt in those forests!
At least they were able to snag a couple of kits and apprentices to bring into Quailstar’s new clan. A clan filled with darkness, for the light had no care for them.
Welcome to Shadeclan! I decided that I wanted to play the Path of the Dark Forest challenge made by marshmallow_cat3 on discord in the clangen discord.
Every 10 moons, there will be a sacrifice of either a light colored cat, or a cat with a “good” trait like loving or playful.
After each sacrifice, I will make a roll to see if the cat is reborn. If they are, then they will be recreated in the Sims 3 for future use.
Greyrose looked across the clearing as her clan continued their usual duties. One day, she might be leader, then this night will be hers to run. Claws pulled at the grass in anticipation. The dark grey tabby would enjoy every moment as leader, and she’d pick her deputy from those she personally has trained, just as Quailstar has.
As long as nothing happened to Greyrose before she can become leader, it was pretty much guarranteed. But if something were to happen...
The cold molly looked over at the chocolate spotted apprentice walking with the Shadeclan leader. The daughter of the traitor Flashmask, and the previous deputy. Quailstar had been raising the pathetic welp for the past 5 moons, molding her into a cat just a bloodthirsty and murderous as the leader herself. What was the elderly molly’s plan with her? Did Quailstar plan on making Rowanpaw her heir? Leaving Greyrose as just a placeholder?
Yellow eyes narrowed at the thought. No. Quailstar wouldn’t be so cruel as to replace Greyrose with a traitor’s kit.
She watched as the two walked over to the big tree.
“Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join me under the shade of the big tree!” Quailstar’s voice rang through camp. “It is time for our next Dark Forest sacrifice!”
As the cats gathered before their leader, Rowanpaw was found sitting right next to Quailstar. Even Greyrose was never that close with her former mentor!
Quailstar stood to address her clan. “The time has come once more to decide who will be sent to the Dark Forest. This is a special sacrifice, for it is the first my apprentice Rowanpaw has the privilege to attend.”
The golden-brown molly rested her tail across the chocolate apprentice’s shoulders.
“In honor of her first sacrifice, Rowanpaw will decide who gets to join the Dark Forest.” Quailstar announced.
Shock spread through the group of clan cats. Quailstar only ever let her deputy choose the sacrifice for her. Why would she let an apprentice choose?
What was Quailstar planning?
Rowanpaw eagerly bounded forward to scan the group, hazel eyes skimming the selection like a hunter picking the perfect prey to catch.
“Hm... Who should I choose?” Rowanpaw squeaked as she started to stalk. “Eenie meenie miney... You.”
Teeth bared as the chocolate apprentice glared at Swamptail. The silvery white tom was surprised by the deadly look in those young eyes.
“Excellent choice.” Quailstar purred as she stepped forward. “Swamptail, come forward so the Dark Forest may gaze upon their newest member.”
Swamptail nervously padded towards his leader, feeling the young apprentice’s gaze on him the entire time.
With a smirk, Quailstar lunged at Swamptail, digging her claws deep into his belly and slicing up to his throat swiftly. Blood pooled under the tom as he collapsed, his silvery white fur now stained pinkish-red.
“May your spilt blood please the Dark Forest to provide you safe travels to join their ranks.” Rowanpaw spoke softly as she returned to her mentor’s side.
Fear spread quietly through the clan as the cats looked at their leader and her murderous prodigy. Swamptail had tried to give Rowanpaw advice just this morning, and now he lay dead at the apprentice’s paws.
What was in store for Shadeclan’s future with such a bloodthirsty young cat in their midst?
