we’re evil! all my homies love villains!
I'm seeing lots of people ask if Mel is going to get a dark arc, or go dark, but Isnt that what we got in season 1 with the Sarcana? She's proven to have that darkness in her, but to me I see it as a reason for her to connect with a grey character like Abigael and I personally would rather see that used for TCOs & Abigael to come together. Platonic connection or not between Mel & Abby. S1 sarcana Mel also caused tension btwn the sisters but I dunno. What do you think about a dark Mel arc in s3+?
this could be completely wrong, since i haven’t seen season 1 in a hot min, but.... the s’arcana weren’t the villains? the elders only made them seem like the villains because they opposed their rule. therefore i don’t think mel’s arc in season 1 was villainization, it was more like.... i don’t know, radicalization? she joined the s’arcana because she liked jada/was undercover but while she was there realized they were actually kindred spirits and the elders were hiding valuable shit from her e.g. her ability to speed/slow time for a specific object, or that akkadian smokescreen spell that would have protected niko without wiping her memory. again, that could very well be wrong.
i’m probably the wrong person to ask about dark mel because i’m obsessed with the concept and my answer, regardless of the cost to the storyline will always be DO IT, let her go apeshit, it’s what she deserves.
from a more logical storyline perspective, i think it would be good but it would be hard to trigger without a major event like a death or something of the sort, and i don’t want to speak that into existence really because if anyone dies it’ll be abigael.
but mel is moral literally to a fault and i think before she goes full dark she’d need to first lean into the idea that morality isn’t Real, which they’ve been hinting at with abigael. but again i’m kind of a terrible person to ask about this because i just really like it when hot women fuck shit up.
