community is important and all in these times but what about when you are extremely socially avoidant and don't want to talk to anyone or go anywhere and assume all strangers are hostile
I’m here to ask for “director’s commentary” on Dark Void!!! Anything more you want to say about it—its history or full powers or any of that—unless, of course, that would spoil something you have planned. But I loved the whole concept when I first read it and would be excited to know more! 🙂
Ooooh a question about Dark Void!!! Thank you!
In my head, Hamund comes to have the sword by killing it's previous owner, and he used the renown of the sword as an intimidation tactic to climb the ladder of his organization. Since it's an ancient relic, having that particular sword comes with all the powers of the souls it's reaped. Pretty grim. But also makes for a very fun plot device!
I imagine the sword's mechanic work similarly to a cage, it imprisons the souls and uses their power. The owner can use that power, but they need to maintain control over the sword. Ultimately, the sword is hungry. It wants to feed. It is constantly calling for more souls, and gets more desperate when the souls' tether to the body gets weaker. That's how it feels the souls around it. Removing the souls from the sword to use their power differently requires devotion. Or at least that's how I imagine Cleia did it!
I didn't really write the sword with a specific thing in mind, and it's still a pretty mystical thing to me as well. But, I do find he idea interesting as well, and may go back to write it's beginning or something similar. Yes, I may write a prologue for a sword!
Tagging @emmanuellececchi because you've asked about Dark Void before as well ☺️
