Darkdreamers Also known as mersleepers, these mers live far within the mazes of underwater caves. Their hair and tails secrete sticky substances, with which they use to adhere to rocks that stick above the water. These mers, outside of brief occasions, remain asleep for their whole lives, dwelling and operating solely within the collective unconscious. Special rituals involving saying a spell before sleeping with a special rock (typically a moon's eye rock) beneath one's pillow can allow those they accept to commune with them in their dreams and grant their wishes if they are deemed worthy. No one knows how they sustain their physical body, but energy feeding has been suggested. Their tails are plain-looking and solely functional due to their infrequent use, often pale and patternless like other cave fishes.
