It's midnight. And you've been staring at the cup of tea in front of you for the longest time. Your mother made it ages ago. She hadn't made one for herself, but she said that you looked like you needed one. You had come in from the rain. Or was it the cold? Or the wind? Whatever it was, your marrow felt chilled, even now hours later as you sat at the kitchen table staring at the cup of tea in front of you. Your mother had made it. She set it down and vanished. The cat is curled in front of the fire. The rosemary is drying near the window. The walls are whispering. And there's mud on your shoes and beneath your fingernails and on your nose and in your mouth. You can taste it. Its after midnight and you have a sip of the cup of tea you've been staring at for the longest time. It tastes like mud. And fresh milk. And something else. Your mother made it for you. It looked like your mother. Even though her eyes were green then blue then green then gold. Even though her hair moved as if caught in a light breeze. Even though she smelled like a river. Even though you were sure your mother never had teeth like that. Your mother made it for you and vanished. Was it after midnight?
Maleficent (2014) was peak dark fairytalecore like damn.
I finally managed to buy the book I’ve been eyeing off for a few months! Anyway I think it is definitely within the darkfantasycore aesthetic
