Hello! I'm a Fan of Hermitcraft, Empires, the Traffic/Life series (which is what got me into MCYT in the first place) and, completely unrelated, D&D and Critical Role.
I write a lot of fanfic. I also play on the Edge SMP, and write stories professionally IRL.
I've now gotten to the point where if I added links to all my work, this pinned post would be RIDICULOUSLY long. So I've made separate posts with each category of fanfic, and am linking them here.
If you find something you like, I’d love a reblog or a message--hearing from people who have read my work is so rewarding! It’s one of my favorite parts of writing!
I'm also open to prompts, asks, etc...just drop 'em in my inbox!
All fics are complete unless noted otherwise
All Hermitcraft fanfic
All Life Series fanfic
All Empires fanfic
The Burning Light (Hermits and Friends Phasmo fanfic)

28. Who is the most delightful character you’ve ever written? Why?
This is a very good question, actually. Tanguish has been a lot of fun as far as character exploration goes. Ren is always a load of fun just because of his vocal ticks. Adding "brother" and "my dude" to a bunch of sentences makes me grin.
I just had to send to ask to tell you…I LOVE your Doc sketches. Seriously, like—I love them. The way you draw motion and movement for him is just very cool.
Ah, thank you very much! He is a lot of fun to draw, to be honest. I mean, that's probably obvious since I do these little sketch pages so often. But the way I settled on drawing him, he's a very large, sturdy character with strong movements. Especially with the four legs, it makes him look like he could put a lot of force into his movements, and figuring out how that force would move in a sketch is just, a really fun puzzle. There's a lot of weight and follow through there that's great to play around with. :D
So, in my english class we are looking at creating a voice and we’re supposed to look at and analyse examples. Naturally I chose to look at an extract from Everything Turns to Gold by the incredible @darkleweather and @redwinterroses Behold:
Ch.27
“Do you not know when you’ve been defeated, Swamp King?” Exor bent forward, bringing his horned head on level with Jimmy’s. Molten-hot breath that reeked of decay washed over Jimmy’s face. “Do you not see when your demise is inevitable?”
“It’s not.”
Harsh light leaked between Exor's fangs. “Of course you refuse to lay down and die. I see other worlds in your eyes, mortal—you didn’t know when to give up then, either.”
The image of a crown dripping with blood flickered in Jimmy’s mind. A burning red banner. A desert rigged to blow. He jerked free of Exor’s grip.
“I’d do it again.”
“And what has it ever gained you but death and death and death again,” Exor scoffed. “Mortals. You never recognize when you’re beat.”
“Maybe that’s not a bad thing,” Jimmy said softly.
Analysis:
This section of dialogue has very clear voices; Jimmy and Exor are shown to have vastly different personalities through their speech.
Jimmy speaks in short, simple statements, giving his sentences a stubborn and defensive air. The words are defiant, particularly in the context of being threatened, continuing to return to his hope of survival. Additional context about the lines “A burning red banner. A desert rigged to blow” (which is a reference to an exterior text) lends weight to Jimmy’s assertion that he is not giving up, as he did not give up then when the stakes were just as high.
Exor, on the other hand, has a very domineering and superior voice. This is created through their questions and statements which are intended to persuade Jimmy of his hopelessness, their constant reference to death, and their condescending use of the term “mortal”. The formatting of the dialogue also adds to the sense of voice; Exor’s words are bolded, making them more forceful and dominant.
The dialogue is balanced with active descriptions; there are not speech tags but it is clear who is speaking and how they are speaking it, as indicated by the voices and the logical back and forth flow of the conversation. The descriptions of the characters’ actions add to the dialogue, such as “molten-hot breath that reeked of decay” adding to the menace of Exor’s words.
- Thank you Red and Darkle for making such a lovely story!!
(and bonus other bit that i really loved but decided not to analyse)
Ch. 28
No one had found Jimmy yet.
Scott moved his feet, wincing at the cold slurp of mud on his borrowed boots, and picked his way across the mesa, stepping over jumbled piles of bones and pausing to let a team of healers carrying a stretcher pass him. He didn’t know what he was looking for—or rather, he didn’t want to admit to himself what he was looking for. He’d picked up a lantern at some point, and he swung its light over the face of every body he passed, hoping not to see the green cloak of the Codfather.
It was like walking in a dream, and the faces of the survivors and the dead blurred together in one unfamiliar muddle. At one point, Pearl appeared at his side, saying something that he just nodded at, not really listening. And once, he looked up to see Shrub on wolfback, standing atop a protruding boulder and holding a flickering torch over her head. She glanced down at him, her features hidden by the wolf mask she wore. He lifted one hand in greeting.
The gnome nodded back, turning her wolf to trot down the other side of the boulder, and Scott continued his search.
He was faintly aware that he must be an otherworldly sight: a golden creature dragging gilded wings and holding a lantern high, occasionally pausing to gingerly roll over a body before moving on. Scott wasn’t honestly sure how he was still alive himself, his skin stiff with gold and his lungs banded by ribs that didn’t expand as they should. Breathing was difficult, though how much of that was the chilled metal constricting his chest and how much was the cold air in his lungs, he couldn’t tell.
heads up! no chapter of Everything Turns to Gold today -- sorry for the delay; Darkle and I have had some irl stuff come up to push back our timeline a bit. Should be back at it again on Monday though!
