is it strange to ask what minecraft noticeably beta is..? i've never heard of it before and the name is making me curious
It is strange to ask very specifically that question, nobody has heard of it before, and the real name is not making you curious. Though it soon might.

Now you will find out what it is. Put simply, I'm modding Minecraft Beta 1.8, modding it to make it inhabitable and better but still hopefully recognizable, especially with regards to how little I've changed to do with lighting and rendering. I added a lot of new blocks though. It's a form of edited Beta 1.8, from 2011 Minecraft. The dying farm cow Beta version.
This was a base version that had a hunger bar decision and a whole host of unintentional problems and I've been spending the last 2.8 years fighting to create a better Minecraft Beta 1.8. People and videos say they've got issues with Beta 1.8 all the time, but they've just touched on the surface, they have NO idea. And I've been mostly fixing them. Though I did mark it with some identifiable new feature design that's very characteristically me.
It's also currently not publicly released, though on here you may be able to half-conveniently track the upcoming public release's progress in my #NBODE posts. I think I'm getting close. Whether I make a newer different mod for Beta 1.8 some day that fixes stuff but makes less random additions and is much more faithful, time will tell.
Playing NBODE is basically like playing the last good version of Minecraft Beta where your main source of gameplay revolves around monster threats and building stuff with no hunger bar if it had controversial terrain and there is no End or Ender Dragon. And also the original day and night shaders are beautiful, that atmosphere being one of the main reasons I went this far.
For the time being, NBODE is boss and I can see why people are looking at it approvingly, putting my rascally admonition aside for another minute. I'm proud. I'm thinking of doing a census to see just how many aspiring players I've lured. A census "poll" where the only two options are to say you're interested or not click on it. For all I know there could be half a hundred out there.
