Psychedelia mit einer gewissen DIY Attitüde findet sich auf dem debutalbum „Where I live“ vom namentlich unbekannten Künstler, der unter dem Pseudonym Das Kope in Erscheinung tritt. Nachdem ich Ihnen bereits das herrliche stark an Tame Impala angelehnte „Fascination“ empfehlen durfte (Tagestipp am 24.05.2020, möchte ich Ihnen des besten Song des Albums nicht vorenthalten. „L.A.X.“ ist zwarals Single bereits in 2018 erschienen, hat aber zum Glück den Sprung auf „Where I live“ geschafft. Anderenfalls wäre mir dieses wunderbare Stück tanzbarem Indie-Pops sicherlich durch die Lappen gegangen.

Das Kope ist eine in LA angesiedelte neo-psychadellic Band, die so ein bisschen im selben Revier wildert, wie der übermächtige Kevin Parker. In mitten der Corona Pandemie das Debütalbum veröffentlichen – das hat sich die Band sicherlich anders vorgestellt. Und doch trifft der Lofi Sound von Das Kope den Zeitgeist. Vom Album gefällt mir interessanterweise ein Stück mit den niedrigsten Streaming- Raten mit am besten:“Fascination“. Überhaupt bemerkenswert wie die Zahlen auf dem Das Kope Debütalbum „Where I live“ auseinander-ragen: von sensationellen 1.113184 Clicks für „L.A.X“ bis hin zu „Imaginaceao“ mit gerade mal 5536 Streams.

For anyone who was concerned that the stay-at-home order would dampen the sound of summer, worry no more. The Brazil-born, LA-based musician Das Kope has been steadily releasing sunny shoegaze singles since 2018; his contributions on guitar alone are entrancing. Now we finally see the release of his debut full-length album, Where I Live, a fuzzy fantasy experienced from afar.
