Hot Australian three piece made a resounding splash last year when they emerged with a blissfully inebriating “lo-funk” debut named Thinkin Of’, whose dreamy warped, soulful simmering swagger was simply irresistible. daste. now kicks off the year in fine fashion with their second release on Mammal Sounds Records. SOBER is another funky strutting swooner that propels daste. to the forefront of the new music scene. “We didn’t anticipate the reception it got when we released ‘Thinkin’ Of’, and it really told us to continue being ourselves in our approach. We do all the production ourselves which can be quite daunting at times, but we always enjoy the challenge and authenticity of being ‘homemade,” the three-piece states. SOBER’s warm infectious electro-funk and suave smoothness displays daste.’s on point songwriting panache and their debonair production skills. Stream/download SOBER, here.

You know what I’m “thinkin’ of” right now? I’m wondrously pondering how blissfully inebriating this debut is, that’s what. Australian three piece daste. lands with a huge splash on debut single Thinkin’ Of, a dreamy warped, soulful simmering “lo-funk” jam, out on Mammal Sounds Records. Callum MacDonald, Braxton Tahi & Tyler Harden met in 2017 as session musicians. When they connected instantaneously, they decided to get together to write some tunes. We’re eternally grateful they made such a wise and prudent choice, because this troupe of songwriters, producers, and musicians has crafted a chillwavey funk ballad with a languorously sublime groove. It’s sort of like Yellow Days gone extra viscous and gooey on the funk and electro, with a hearty infusion of sweltering JMSN. daste.’s intoxicating debut is available now, here.
