Ohhhh I'm going insane. I think at some point during the development of veilguard the shadow dragons were not going to lose their hq if you didn't save Minrathous cause there is recorded voice over mentioning Ashur’s current blighted status and even a line from Dorian that would have had Dorian mention that he helped fight off the dragon during its attack. @/corseque matched up speakers to script lines and organized it all by conversation (I adore them sooo much for their work it's so NICE to be able to tell whos saying what for most of the script) and there are multiple mentions in Tarquins On Click VO, Ashurs On Click and ambient VO, and Dorians On Click VO that would only fit if you could talk to them post Minrathous being devastated.

*Dorian flashing back to my inquisitor dragging him and Bull along to kill all the high dragons in the south* and just so many lines referencing Ashur being sick-

Its tough to verify all the voice over lines are recorded or not at the moment because ealayer3 is veryyy finicky right now on what VO files it will open or just decide to crash at but Dorians line and the first line from Tarquin on this post ive checked and they are recorded.

Sadly Ashur's On Click and ambiant VO files crash when I open them at the moment but with the other lines having been recorded its likely his are too even if they're not implemented in the game. It would have been SO COOL to see and visit blighted Ashur over the course of the game if you didn't save Minrathous. I would have loved to see that progression.

man. I forgot abt that Fenris banter. the one that sparks in act 3 if you approach the chantry. He literally says that the Imperial Chantry receives a tithe for every slave sold. Man if I was Ashur idk how I’d look at that—tangible proof about how the Chantry, the arm of the Maker—profits from slavery and find a way to fix it from the inside. Fuck man I’d take up vigilantism too

Not sure if I deserve the right to call you this once more. Not sure how to even start this letter: should I cut right to the chase? Should I pour out my thoughts the way they jump through my mind’s eye? A kaleido. I wish the words came easier, to give meaning to them the way you would appreciate it, but…

We’re going to Tearstone Island. There’s no time.

Once I made a grave for you in the deepest part of my soul. Sometimes it feels like you are still lying there: maybe you are, since the blight in your veins has slowed but is not gone. You’d tell me it’s not my fault, but so many things are. Unhappy coincidences. Unspoken words. Unkept promises. They are mine to carry and see through. And one more on top, sworn on blood at the edge of your bed.

We always needled each other about who’d pass over to the Fade first out of recklessness, remember? We are moving out tomorrow and I am scribbling this abomination of both apology and declaration in haste.

Let me reclaim a bit of eloquence and dignity by repeating your words. Everything we are, what we did, what is before us still, once started with nothing but a dream. A dream of better Tevinter, better Minrathous, that spun like a thread into a tapestry. A dream of connection we shared and are still, of understanding. A dream of a future where our cause wins and we live long enough to see it. The one where we don’t, but it happens nonetheless. The dream of slow change, of calmer days, of sunsets over the Dock Town narrow roofs and Nessum spires.

In all these futures I am for once in my life truly praying for, you are not alone and alive.

I realized that every time I sit down to write Tarquin and Ashur interactions it's with the mindset that Ashur = fell first, Tarquin = fell harder, and by that I mean that Ashur realized ages ago how he felt about Tarquin and is content to just find tranquility and comfort in being near him in any capacity, meanwhile Tarquin realizes at some point during/after the game and spends three days screaming into a pillow and swearing his teeth out under his breath every time he sees Ashur anywhere near him
