Daughters of Eve
1965
I’ve started a new project! This one is the #springblanketkal from thee we pattern by @louisetilbrookdesigns I am not using a solid colour for it, I am using the gorgeous #narnia inspired 100% Merino 50g skeins dyed by @yarnforthesoul The first two are #daughtersofeve I’m also nearly doubling the width to make it bigger than a lap blanket. I think I have a blanket addiction! #craftyphoenixlady #thecraftyphoenixlady #blanket #narniablanket #narniablanketclub #yarnforthesoul #louisetilbrookdesigns #blanketlove #knittedblanket #knitter #kal #knitting #crafting #creating #blankethug https://www.instagram.com/p/CMVH-5KJ0ov/?igshid=6u4q5a7bwf9m

Come for the pre-party to your church service today: 3PM and 7PM at RaddisonBlu Anchorage Hotel, Lagos to see these #DaughtersOfEve and #BrotherJero in @kennethuphopho's adaptation of Wole Soyinka's 'The Trials of Brother Jero'.
why "Daughters of Eve"?
I've never been particularly good at picking titles-- I think every single one of my papers in college and grad school were direct quotes or references. I knocked around a number of ideas, most not worth sharing, until I stumbled across the idea of Daughters of Eve for my YouTube channel. If you've read C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia series, then you're probably familiar with "daughters of Eve," which is what Susan and Lucy are called in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Since Lewis, it's started showing up in pop culture, mostly refer to the idea of ancient or mystic woman. It evokes a sense of mystery and power.
However, in church history, "daughters of Eve" used to mean something very different. Being a daughter of Eve meant that women had inherited something twisted. We shared the guilt of our ancient mother, and shared her weaknesses. We, the daughters of Eve, could not be trusted.
Today, it's come to limit women in other ways-- now, "Sons of Adam, Daughters of Eve" is used to define men and women, to put us into boxes of gender roles and to say that we're equal, but different.
I named my YouTube channel about sex for Christian teenagers "Daughters of Eve" in order to frame the sort of conundrum we face: The power of choice, the awareness of temptation, but also the mystery of simply being alive, of being human, and the beauty in that.

We are so proud of the hard work that Layla and Daughters of Eve have done to raise awareness of FGM in the UK and hope that this documentary will help to push for change in the government, providing better resources and funding to protect young girls and women from being cut.
Shoreditch Sisters WI have been involved in campaigning against FGM, you may have contributed to or seen our Vulva Quilt which is a great piece to start conversations around the subject of FGM, you will catch a glimpse of it tonight on the telly too!
