20 track album
RELEASE DAY! I have a full-length rock album coming soon, but to wet your appetite, here is my brand new brand first INSTRUMENTAL EP, titled Lump In My Throat!
Recorded with the Trouble's Afoot rock band (Dave Fox & Christopher Roberts) during quarantine, this is no small effort. My goal was to not use any MIDI (there's a tiny bit on two of the tracks) but create REAL MUSIC (!!) with real instruments at my disposal. Track 5 was made from everything on my desk at the time!
Dave's bass lines are beautiful, having no vocals on top really allowed him to shine, and Chris's drums are as great as ever, bouncing from genre to genre effortlessly but still managing to feel like the same personality too!
It will be on Spotify, iTunes, Youtube, etc, etc, but on Bandcamp you get 15 BONUS TRACKS! Four earlier versions of the Lump songs, plus what I call "Early Lumps" (tm), 11 more instrumentals from years past! And this week I have it all as $3 but plan to put it at $5 later!
Track 1 is a crazy accordion instrumental! Track 2 is a country-ish melodic swing. 3 is kind of a loop of chords I've been obsessed with for years. 4 is a Smiths-y somber rocker, and 5 is the sad CODA. Sadness! Enjoy!
20 TRACKS FOR $3! GRAB IT NOW! 5 BRAND NEW FULL BAND RECORDINGS, PLUS 11 OF MY PERSONAL FAVORITE INSTRUMENTALS OVER THE YEARS! Very little MIDI! Very lot of work! GRAB IT NOW!
Every once in a while a band comes along that changes the course of human history. Your hosts and dear friends Jordan Cooper and Dave Fox take you on an in-depth musical journey over the career, albums, and songs of the band They Might Be Giants, and maybe have some hearty, completely authentic laughs along the way.
Me and my friend have (don’t let’s) started a podcast about our favorite band, They Might Be Giants! We hope fans find it entertaining and informative and not horrible! Episode 01 is now live! Available at this link or on iTunes, etc!
Dave Fox’s Unwanted Guest Releases New Album ‘Bonedead’
A Fusion of Retro and Modern Alt-Metal
Dave Fox is the guitarist of UK NWOBHM band Seventh Son. Today, he is focusing on his own musical side-project, and his most recent recent release, Bonedead, happens to be the second album from his solo project Unwanted Guest. Following the success of his 2022 release Grave Metallum, which reached number 10 on the Amazon New Release Metal Charts, Bonedead blends 90s rock and metal with a modern twist. The record unfolds through 12 original songs, each bringing something special to the table. Today, many artists in the genre tend to overproduce their music and rely too much of the recording studio to achieve perfection. However, there might risk missing out on the organic qualities of the sound. This kind of heavier music really needs that organic punch and thankfully, this release shows that Dave is all about maintaining a very natural approach, which showcases his skills as a guitarist and songwriter alike. In addition, this album is most definitely a labor of love. Dave dedicated two years to creating the 12-track album, handling all vocals, instruments, and production. He is a multi talented musician who put so much of himself into his work. With singles like Mary Had a Little Lamb, Six Degrees of Saturation, and Imposter Syndrome already available, the album dives into personal themes, such as Dave’s mother’s battle with dementia. Because of the unique combination of personal lyrics and catchy sounds spanning different genres, the artist was able to achieve a very kaleidoscopic sound with so much to offer to a broad range of listeners. unlike many other heavier records, this is far from being one dimensional. On the contrary, it is an opportunity for Dave to constantly explore new ideas and voice his creativity in unique ways.
In conclusion, this album is definitely going to be right up your alley if you do enjoy the sound of artists like Velvet revolver, Screaming Trees and Faith No More, among others.
Unwanted Guest offers a fresh take on alt-metal. The full album will be available in September on CD and major streaming platforms.
