David Ivey 1950 - 2020
It is with great sadness we announce that Content Abnormal cartoonist David Ivey died yesterday at the age of 70, following a long battle with health issues. David authored & illustrated the “Brainsqueezins” comics that appeared in the first two issues of Content Abnormal.
His third and final “Brainsqueezins” will appear this October in Content Abnormal issue #3. We are honored and grateful for our little magazine to have been a small part of such an illustrious career. David was the art director and chief prop maker for both The Ghoul Show and Wolfman Mac’s Chiller Drive-In. In 2010, fellow Content Abnormal cartoonist Keith “Creepy Clyde” Brown interviewed David about his experiences working on TV. You may listen to that interview here (Dave’s segment begins at 6:50).
Below is a video of David in 2018 demonstrating how he animated his illustrations for segments of The Ghoul Show:
And below is David’s animated short film that got his career in television started - “Ultra Ghoul vs. The Abominable Doughman”!
If you would like to make a donation to help the Ivey family through this tough time you may do so HERE.
