NAS Essay Update #2 (I think)

Alright, I got a little progress done on the script, here's a little peak at that:

Right now, I'm worrying about the script, but I should mention this is the first-ever video essay thing, so I really have no clue, for all I know, I already fucked up, probably think too much, but I could also have fucked up.

I don't even have a microphone or some shit.

I'm only fucking seven minutes in Go To Sleep: The True Jeff the Killer Story, and David's introduction just the way Jeff says "My brother David... That THAT'S HIS NAME David-" I just can't fucking help but think think of "DAVID THAT IS MY NAME" from that fucking FNAF Mimic song, motherfucker.

What if instead of being killed by his brother maybe as a kid (pre accident jeff) he gets bit by a vampire named sully and goes missing

And years later jeff and liu reunite but liu is a badass goth vampire that wields a badass sword and he hunts zalgoids just to find out jeff got burned alive and (we totally ignore Keaton for a moment bc I know half the fandom doesn’t know about MBK or needles and smiles / the saga of Jeffery Keaton the killer) and instead of becoming a proxy he says “nah fuck u” and joins zalgo just to spite slender but then realizes once jeff and liu r face to face again after like over a decade they r like oh shit! I gotta fight my bro to death!

I don’t know I just really want an excuse to have vamp sword swinging Liu that seems very logical in my head

So I'm guessing you really like Liu? Do you have a favorite interoperation? I don't know much about creepypasta but I do like the morgue files version of him. There's something about Liu Mason that's almost refreshing. A well-rounded character that can be cute and creepy, pretty decent system representation (Not perfect but better than most.) and might be genderqueer? I don't know might be looking too deep into that one. I also like Pastra's Liu from his Jeff the Killer Rewrite not a system, not a murderer just a guy whose heavily traumatized and is living in constant fear of his own brother.

Yeah, Liu doesn't have much to set him aside from other killer pasta's but he's so versatile like the guy can be anything and as a writer I just want to like rip into him and bend him to my will or something that doesn't make me sound insane. 🫠

Mmmmm yes yes I really love liu as a whole! And honestly I can't pick but my favorites have to be David keaton and Liu mason because to me the "j-jeff i forgave you🥺" stuff is lowk cringe but it works IF represented correctly, for example if liu is a caretaker archetype and almost raised jeff(if liu was older) or the "jeff I hate you, die 😈🔪" fanon stuff..both woukd make sense if written well, for example in my rewrite where liu is a mercenary he hates jeff but somewhat sympathies with him because their parents were abusive so liu as the older one had to partially raise jeff, and in my second rewrite where lius trying to reunite with jeff but they both end up as proxies, liu is trying to still bond with jeff because jeff always protectd him(in the proxies au jeff is 28 and liu 25-26) so based off their pasts it matters how much jeff affects liu in their past, and to me the DID thing is Hella inaccurate in the woods version but in the masons variant it makes sense due to liu being younger and jeff being a born psychopath traumatized liu with the sully stuff and using liu as a punching bag, so honestly I prefer both David keaton and liu mason although I tend to lean toward liu mason more because I find him more relatable to me!

David Keaton - A Faceless Waste Of Potential

Well, heres the David rant!

As always, this is not being made to stir up any drama, but a critique of the Needles And Smiles audio dramas and how they handled certain things.

David Keaton. Oh, David Keaton. Besides LJ, this is a character in the series who I have A LOT of mixed feelings about. Pity, anger, frustration, sometimes rage, as intense as that sounds.

He's Jeffrey Keaton's older brother, and for a character who plays such an important role in the story... we literally know little or nothing about him. You could argue this is the case for most of the characters in the series, but I believe that this is one of the characters the people at MBK really fucked up on. Let's attempt to discuss what we do know about him. He's Jeff's older brother, obviously. We're never told exactly how old or how much older he is than Jeff, but with various lines in the series that imply that he and Jeff were still in school together, we conclude that they are canonly 1-2 years apart in age. Jeff was born in 1992, so David was either born in 1990 or 1991. From what can be gathered in the deleted Go To Sleep: The True Story Of Jeff The Killer, because of their father's abuse and their mother's drug problems, David became a parentified child at a very young age. Essentially having to raise Jeff (and Jane, for the time that she was with them) on his own. He's also been stated to have NPD, but that was only brought up in the series to show how "evil" he was, so we're not gonna discuss any of that.

That's about all we know. From then on he's just a faceless character, we never get any art of description of him. And then he's killed off by a mangled fox animatronic (AKA Mangle). We finally get to meet him, and not even an hour later, he's dead. What the fuck? That's it? After everything?

And to make everything worse... they turned him into a rapist. In the controversial short audio drama Blood In The Window, after reuniting with each other, Jeff and David break into a rich girls house and assault her. To make things even more terrible, the girl is stated to be seventeen. Jeff was in the asylum for five years, from seventeen to twenty-two. David at least has to be twenty-three or twenty-four.

Which means two grown men assaulted a child.

I would like to give MBK the benefit of the doubt and say this was just a mistake because the timeline was so whacky and it possibly was gonna be all retconned in The Lost Tapes but... yeah, this realization made me feel physically ill.

What was the fucking point? To show how much of a terrible person he was? He's already a murderer, that's enough to show he's horrible!

It makes me angrier because if we take the Go To Sleep story into consideration, they contradict his character so badly. Because there is a line where he condemns the assault of women, audibly sounding disgusted when talking about it. Like- how did we get from that to this?

David Keaton was a character who had so much potential, yet has instead become a big fat red warning sign on what NOT to do with a character in your story. And another reason as to why shock value is a plague on the creepypasta fandom. All I can hope is that if people put him in their Needles and Smiles writes, they'll do ten times better than what MBK did to him.

I was gonna post these two separately, but since I finished the other one today, here’s Jane with her big bros!

As you know, in my MBK verse AU, Jane isn’t taken away and adopted but raised with Jeff and David. So they all actually have a good relationship! Well… up until Jeffery’s Dead lol.

The first one is a nice memory from the past with Jeff comforting his little sister. She had a bit of a bad day that day.

The second is just a silly little scenario for @nathantheauthor ‘s rewrites/multiverse where Jane covinces David to come hang out with her and they have fun.

Excuse the scars and sitches, he just went through the bitch of resurrection XD

I love this siblings a little too much, so I’m excited to write more stuff with them in the future.

- Respects the fuck out of women

- Teaches Jane to protect herself and not take shit from men in the AUs she’s raised with them

- Will bulgon rapists/SAs to death he can’t stand those motherfuckers

- Genuinely tries to do his best for his siblings, no matter how twisted his methods seem

- Helped Jeff feel comfortable in his sexuality (they had a “I think I like boys…” “Oh I do too, don’t worry” moment when Jeff came out)

- Fought tooth and nail to get back to Spokane to get Jeff out of the asylum

- In my AUs where he’s revived, he genuinely tries his best to improve for his siblings upon the realization how much he’s hurt them

My David will always win 👊😤

Ya know what? I’m gonna discuss it more in my David rant, but it honestly frustrates me that this character, who’s VERY WELL SUPPOSED TO BE IMPORTANT, he’s important to Jeff and the main reason why he wants to get out of the asylum… is just killed off in the same audio drama he’s properly introduced in. And then is never brought up ever again. Like???

And what frustrates me more is what they ended up turning his character into, cause there was really no need for that.
