Mr. Michael Kamen had quite a weird career. He veered between the Eurythmics and Bryan Adams, though he also collaborated with David Gilmour. However, I would claim that him working with Tim Curry could be seen as a shock. Before you dare to ask – yes, we are talking about that Tim Curry who had a bizarre rock career on the side. You see, his music reminds me of someone who looked at the popular rockers at the time and decided to take the formulas to go off course, though he sadly didn't do too much of the latter, he somehow seemed beholden to the contemporary trends. Still, you could trace the hints of an intriguing figure he could've developed into on a couple of his songs. Then again, he did have a main job, but I wish he kept his musical gig going.

DAVID LASLEY DIES AT 74: Singer and songwriter David Lasley, best known for his vocal work with James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt and others, died this week of undisclosed causes at age 74.
“So brokenhearted hearing of David’s passing,” bassist Leland Sklar wrote on Facebook. “Spent so many years with him on tour with James Taylor. A beautiful soul and what a voice.“
JOE WALSH TO HOST VIRTUAL VETSAID: Joe Walsh’s annual VetsAid benefit concert will stream Dec. 18 through Christmas Day. The program will feature new performances from Walsh and his band and unseen footage from previous shows since 2017.
BONNIE RAITT TO RECEIVE A LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT GRAMMY: Bonnie Raitt is slated to receive a lifetime achievement Grammy award in January 2022.

“As amazing as their chemistry was - the improvisational directions that they chose and their philosophical open-mindedness about what the music could be - without that body of songs, it wouldn’t hold up,” he said. “It’s the songs that really keep that music alive … there are very few entities that boast a catalog of great songs that vast.”

Whenever we talk about the jazzists who entered the domain of popular music, we mustn't forget about Herbie Hancock. He became something of a pop star himself with his 80's work and he also did many records in that vein as a session musician. Therefore, the fact we can find him on Nick Of Time, the record by Bonnie Raitt that made her successful, shouldn't surprise us. He collaborates with her on this tune that seems like an outlier on the disc, since the song only contains her and his piano playing. Nonetheless, the composition fits the entire platter's theme of love and all the complexities contained within that emotion. Unfortunately, Hancock's contribution on Nick Of Time is limited to this ballad only, causing us to wonder how an entire LP with him and her would sound.
