We won the strike! Plus even better Jack decided to stay! We were throwing a party, all the Manhattan newises along with Spot. Someone brought alcohol (Race and Spot) and everyone was having a blast. Even I decided to loosen up and have a couple drinks. Which lead to more but eh who's counting. My mind felt fuzzy and I felt like I was on top of the world, like I could do anything at this very moment. I looked around noticing Jack and David sitting on the stairwell away from everyone.
David Jacobs, the reason why we won. The sweet and gentle boy who I would die for. I loved him, I'm sure of it. I stumbled over to the two boys. I saw that Jack was also drunk and wouldn't stop complimenting David on helping us all. I felt a smile make its way onto my lips.

the strike episode of superstore reminds me of jack and david at the beginning
jack: and we’re already on strike
david: we’re not on strike
jack: we’re already on.. leave of discontent
so i saw someone discuss the classist reasons that people make davey the “mom” of the group, but may i bring up the homophobic reasons?
oftentimes, as far as i’ve seen in fics and such, david is the “mom” of the group when he’s dating jack. and jack is the “dad” of the group. for years, people have been pushing heteronormative standards in gay relationships. where the more “masculine” one is seen as the dad while the more “feminine” one is seen as the mom. if we’re basing it on the musical (2017), jack is tall and muscular, while david is tall and skinny.
basically, someone that people perceive as the “top” in the group will be the dad, and the “bottom” will be the mom.
while in reality, if you actually pay attention to the characters at hand, jack is the one who’s seen as more caring to the newsies. he’s the one who was there for them and who helped raise a lot of the younger ones. they all look up to him and care about him. david was with the newsies for a day before the strike started. there was no time to form a serious bond with anyone but jack and if we’re going by movie, the main few.
so basically, stop pushing heteronormative roles on gay couples.
me comparing 1992sies and livesies bc my opinion matters /j
i know we all have opinions on the differences of 1992sies and livesies, so let me share mine!
first of all, the songs.
i prefer movie santa fe and king of new york, but both versions of carrying the banner are great!
character wise, i much prefer the movie versions of most movie original characters aside from davey! i’m very specific with that lol. but to me, movie racetrack and spot and jack and etc are all better :)) tho they picked great actors for all of the above in the play
musical original characters are godssend tho, i love them
i personally like the movie more, it’s also the first one i saw and the one i’ve watched way more. songs from the musical are amazing!! both have their amazing qualities as well as their mistakes.
basically, no which one is better but i like the movie over the musical. and scene.
