Teach your Children, to Follow their Joy

Oh. Did someone call for a Lois Lane/Hot-For-Teacher over here? The script for this series certainly does. Today’s work entails me being a sassy stenographer named Macy.

And, as I slid on her glasses, I recalled how much I loved playing dress up as a child. How much I STILL love dressing up. And, how deliciously lucky I am to be able to do it almost daily in a variety of incarnations.

Parents, trust where your children’s joy lies. That’s the joy they will drive from - and, thrive on - for the rest of their lives. Even if it’s not where you find your joy. Or, if it makes you nervous... Or, if it makes you uncomfortable... Or, if it even scares you to death... You can’t change a person’s joy reservoir. So, take notice of what river they go to draw from. Help them fill it up as much as you can when they are young. And, then teach them to seek it when they need it most. That’s where their joy will be found long after their youth is gone.

McCoy MeCations: Palm Desert Fun Living Fun Loving

Two tall Texpats feeding a giraffe. I mean. Why not? Lord, I have fun with this man. He teaches me to experience new kinds of fun every day. Even last night - AFTER feeding the giraffe, and AFTER delivering gift baskets to rooms, and AFTER cocktails at AC3 Restaurant + Bar, and AFTER an epic 4–course dinner with wine pairings at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa, and AFTER baking egg casseroles and setting up a house party, and AFTER hosting a pool party for 25 with Palm Desert, California, and AFTER dinner with friends at @ac3palmdesert (yes, again!!)- we spent the evening decompressing and relaxing in the pool of our Acme House Company Vacation Rentals home, listening to Hall & Oates radio on Pandora, and just soaking in the sensuous desert cool evening. And, as we looked at each other, and thought of our fast-paced 24 hours, all I could think of was aFleetwood Mac song. “Ooh, you make loving fun. (It’s all I wanna do)” God, I love it here.
