The peak of 1950s luxury, where the main selling points were "reasonable rates" and the revolutionary ability to watch a grainy broadcast of I Love Lucy without melting into a puddle of humidity. This was an era when you could literally park your two-ton steel boat of a car directly on the sand and let the salt air do its worst to your undercarriage. I particularly enjoy the "Office" sign, which is clearly positioned to ensure that no one, not even a person distracted by the neon glow of the Atlantic, could miss where to hand over their hard-earned vacation cash. It’s the ultimate "Wish You Were Here" aesthetic, provided you enjoy the smell of sea salt and leaded gasoline.
Sourced from a vintage postcard produced in the 1950s for the Town & Surf Motel, located at 1425 S. Atlantic Ave in Daytona Beach, Florida. The image is split into two panels: the top shows a scenic view of the beach dotted with classic cars and yellow Adirondack chairs, while the bottom showcases the motel's office, parking lot featuring mid-century sedans, and a marquee boasting modern luxuries like "Free TV" and "Air Conditioned."

In between flights as a stewardess, I spend my downtime relaxing at places like Waikiki Oceanfront Resort in Wildwood Crest.
