“Are you okay?”
Marinette jumps. “Y-yes, I’m fine,” she stammers, sneaking a glance at him.
Adrien eyes remain fixed on their UMS3 match, and he lets out a pleased hiss when he lands a hit on her avatar. “Did you want to talk about him?” he asks. His brows twitch when Marinette executes a perfect Special Move. “How do you keep doing that?”
“Magic! And practice,” Marinette allows. “I…”
Adrien manages to defend successfully against Marinette’s next flurry of attacks.
“Nice! …I know Ladybug loves him,” she continues. “And I know Cat Noir loves her. He says he will stay with me, but I don’t want to stop him from being with the one he loves most.”
Adrien mistimes a hit. Marinette’s counterattack finishes him off. “Eugh. You’re not a rebound, Marinette,” he says, putting down his controller and stretching. (Marinette’s eyes fix on the curve of his back.) “You’re too amazing for that, you know.”
“This is nothing,” Marinette laughs, setting down her own controller and sinking back into the sofa. “You should see me when I’m L—” She stops herself.
Adrien looks at her, confused. “What was that?”
“N-nothing,” Marinette mumbles, pulling her legs to her chest.
Her boyfriend pouts. “But I’m curious now,” he whines.
“It’s nothing,” Marinette repeats. “It’s… I’m not telling Cat Noir, either, so you’re not missing out anything.”
For some reason, this makes Adrien look more alarmed. “Why can’t you tell me— us?” he asks.
Marinette shakes her head, regretting the slip of her tongue. “It’s nothing,” she insists.
“You’re not in danger?”
“No! No, of course not. I….” Marinette bites her lip. “I wish I could tell you. I want to tell you. I promise, if I could tell you, I would! But…”
Adrien’s brow is furrowed. It’s the same furrow he gets when he is solving a physics problem that is giving him trouble, she notices. “Why?” he asks. “Is it… someone else?”
Marinette bursts into startled laughter. “No way!”
Adrien’s lips twist. “And you’re not in danger,” he repeats.
“N-no.” It’s not technically a lie, but it’s close enough that Marinette feels guilty.
Adrien sighs. “Will it go away?”
She should lie, but she doesn’t want to. “Probably not,” she admits. “But I promise to tell you as soon as I can.”
“And Cat Noir?”
Marinette thinks it over. “He’ll probably find out first,” she admits. “I will tell you, though.” She raises her fist. “Promise.”
Adrien still looks worried, but he is smiling faintly as he bumps his fist into hers. “I’ll hold you to it.”

Love Languages: Words of Affirmation
"My darling, my love, my stars above," his soft voice sang through the house. When you didn’t respond he continued to search for you. He made his way into the living room, it was dark with only the TV giving off a flickering light. He spotted your form asleep on the couch, remote barely in the grip of your hand. He smiled softly as he made his way over to you. He took the remote from your hand and placed it on the table then turned back, “Angelic, even when they sleep.” He sighed contently before reaching down and traced your cheekbone down to your jaw, “C’mon wake up, Sweetheart. Let’s get you to bed.”
You grumbled and scrunched up your face as you squinted around the room. Even the small light from the TV was enough to hurt your eyes. A snort made you turn to see your loving partner watching you struggle to wake. Your face softened as you hummed, making a little noise as you stretched, “Mmm good morning.”
“Good morning, my Starlight,” He smiled, it was warm and loving. He met your sleepy gaze and once again sighed happily, “How is it that even when half asleep, unkempt hair, and drool on your chin, I can still fall even more madly in love with you. And that cute little raspy voice you have when you first wake up. It’s absolutely adorable.” His voice softened as he watched you sit up. You couldn’t help but laugh only for it to be quickly overtaken by a yawn. With a small apology from your partner, the two of you made your way to bed. You found your spot next to him, head under his chin and tucked close to his chest.
"I am so incredibly lucky to have you in my life," he whispered as he traced his hands up and down your spine, “Remember that I am proud of you, you’re absolutely amazing, and I am utterly thankful that we are each other’s chosen person. You mean the absolute world to me. Now, enough of me keeping you up with my rambles. Sleep well, my Love.”
