I have the need to make a list of french pet names that I love, and the ones that my man used will be in purple

— mon coeur ( my heart which basically means my love but in a more cute way )

— mon amour ( my love )

— ma chérie ( my dear but in a lovey dovey way )

— chat / chaton ( litteraly means cat and kitten but in french it's a so cute pet name )

now I often think about the ones that I will use, for him mon amour will be good, but I also have in mind just amour, love, and amor ( in spanish because he has an obsession with it and he has spanish blood ) I think about babe of bébé but I'm not sure about it

I used to think I disliked pet names but I think that's just cause I grew up hearing the worst ones

Don't get me wrong id hate to be called honeybunch or something as equally demeaning, but calling someone love or lovely doesn't rankle quite as much

And also along with that thought, from what I've learned, some words are more significant in one's mother tongue. Y'know how love songs never translate well across cultures because there's no way to explain certain intrinsic values? I think that's the same with terms of endearment.

I could probably learn to view and say 'te quiero' as something important, but it may never hold the same weight as looking into the eyes of someone i hold dear and saying earnestly 'I love you'

But on the flip side of that, if their mother tongue was Spanish and they said it to me, id understand how much more it meant to them saying it in the language they know best

I love when ppl use pet names to ppl even to strangers, like wdym you're comfortable calling ppl "my love," "my darling," "sweetheart" or anything like that bc that's just what you are and you're a sweetheart and has a kind soul and you treat other ppl with love. Bonus, if it's a woman that calls you that
