I think he'd genuinely be happy sitting doing nothing but going "chugga chugga choo choo :•D" all day. It would enrich him

His name trips me up too, I regret it, which is ironic because I didnt make it the game made it. But i shouldve changed it U_U

tbh one of the reasons you may not be getting asks is cause a lot of people are too anxious to be the “first” ask and typically needs someone else to send one or two asks to “break the ice” so to speak (having a pinned post may also help? i find people have an easier time if there is a specific post they can refer back too to make sure they arent being rude or smth)

anyways so heres a question, how closely do you tend to stick to the in game sprites when designing your cats?

also did you have any inspirations (whether someone else blog or maybe a piece of media) that inspired you to create your comic?

Oh my god completely fair point, I kind of forgot about that! I didn't forget making a pinned post though, Iii've been putting it off for a few months & don't have a good reason besides being a perfectionist.

Actually the blog used to have a pinned post for a short while, a rb from my main laying out that day2clan was meant to be a satire parody comic but also explaining that it wasn't going to like, well I think I worded it as I'm not going to make misogynist jokes? Which is still fair I stand by that, but I deleted it cause I don't think I have it in my heart for day2clan to be SOLELY comedy. Besides the point I'll work towards making a proper one ASAP, thanks for the reminder! :3 I figure at this point a badly formatted pinned post is better than no pinned post (nodding emoji)

OKAY OKAY OKAY. GREAT QUESTION. Frankly anything regarding character design I love answering & talking about I have been obsessed with the prospect since I was a wee artist

It depends! I've always been a fan of designing wc cats closer to their name rather than their description in the books, I think it has something to do with me having synesthesia, or otherwise being a bit pretentious about shapes & colors UuU. So I'd say my process would be if their name doesn't interfere with their appearance (ex: a red cat named greenpelt) then I keep them as is colorwise... to an extent.

I really only realized how much other clangen blogs stick strictly to their cats colors (yet not shapes) after I did the artstyle challenge & had to make up clangen colors for Bleakstar, eye opening! I take based on a palette I made before starting day2clan and keep in mind general themes so their clangen colors are changed to a consistent feeling palette! Like how Coldheart is this warm orange ingame that I switched over to cooler colors, cause cold.

(Behold my abomination. These come from an album cover I colorpicked when I was sick with covid & trying to make a warriors pmv, the mspaint palette and the Look Outside palette. Hey guess what gamers that's coming up later!)

hi i like bleakstar can i please have one billion fun facts about bleakstar

Lofty ask, but uh... I can try to rattle off as many little character aspects I've built into him. Oh- but I am glad you like him! He's definitely one of my favourite characters I've written, just out of his sheer ridiculousness

This is slightly in response to a person or two who have said otherwise, but Bleakstar has a pretty good QoL. Cleft lip, broken tail (I mean it healed) and missing the half of one of his ears. But it doesn't affect him on a personal level. You'll understand what I mean with the next fact, I think.

He HATES feeling old, he thinks somehow he missed out on his warrior youth so he's completely impulsive to his emotional whims, and does a lot of dangerous stunts that don't go well. He has NEVER liked being sick or injured because he just feels like "I'm fine! Let me out there!"

It's probably obvious but I've never had anyone point it out, basically almost all his tabby stripes are eyes in some way. It is a completely unrealistic tabby pattern I am doing solely for rule of cool, and because I cant draw tree patterns very well -u-

Also he used to have a third eye before he became leader & it became a star, theres so few panels of Bleaktree I think people miss it because the prologue was "short". I do mean to give Bleaktree some flashback scenes to flesh him out but *shrug* it's hard to place flashbacks that dont feel clunky or exposition-y.

His third eye's pupil is replaced with a star when he's in Starclan! Mostly an easter egg but if you want, Bleakstar is secretly special, is Starclans most favourite princess and actually is apart of a Dayclan prophecy.

(Fun fact this page is loosely based on that one Tails gets Trolled panel. You know the one. Also if you are a child do not read that comic)

ALSO also I like to draw his eye stripes, for the pupils to point towards what hes looking at or who hes talking to. Not ALWAYS but I think of it as me pranking whoever is studying his details. Haha boo his fur moves.

I think he got like scarily strong after becoming a leader, maybe cause of one of his lives I will probably never write out because leader ceremonies give me headaches to write? But this is why he accidentally broke Kudu's jaw, and yes it was an accident he truly meant to just slap her. Basically every other Day2clan cat also refused to approach him for like a week because they were all uniquely freaked TF out.

For some stupid reason that I did not think out- Bleakstar has a 4 point star in his fur rather than the others, who have 5 point stars. Why? I truly don't know, but it doesn't mean he's lesser. If anything theres credence to the "he's special to Starclan" theory.

I think in-universe the star placement has a meaning, but it's not like a bible I've written down :/ I just love the concept & the star on the forehead bothers me like, aesthetically lol. Bleakstar gets it cause hes tacky!!! It's coincidence that Burnet & Egg both have them on their sides, I really just did that cause nowhere else looked good LOL

He avoids gatherings because he doesn't know how to explain Day2clan, and since now it's home to 3 kits, he knows he cant really casually disband it. He regrets making Day2clan but he also wouldn't give it up for anything, despite the Dustyspots debacle he's seen how much better cats like Oddtooth are doing here. Dayclan wasn't the best to her. Sooo yeah, the other clans don't entirely know where or what Day2clan is!

Not very good with sympathy or compassion, it's not cause he's evil (which he is) he's just like this. Only can really comfort a cat who's gone through the same/similar thing as he did. Otherwise he hover-hugs and goes "there... there???"

His favourite prey is european rabbit, which I originally had a fun fact about but I don't think said fact is true in this instance...

He has an older sister named Barkmask who still is kickin' in Dayclan! She's settled down with old age unlike Bleakstar, but these two were definitely the pranksters and daredevils of their clan for a LONG while. Dayclan feels a little empty without Bleakstar intentionally tripping his clanmates...

I've never drawn these two parents, or any other relative but I think they all have tree-related names just because it's funny. One day I definitely want Bleakstar to have a designed family tree, but again, not good with tree patterns!!! I'm half tempted to make it a contest "design bleakstar a mom just for fun lolz"

His pelt changed after Moon 9 and NOONE ADDRESSED IT!!! >:O /joking mad Basically his star is crossed out because he feels like a dogshit leader now, just a few strands of fur moved that way, so like there's a chance he redeems himself or something. He is also missing a stripe & I just did that because I'm planning for him to have a scar from Dustyspots, and it just looks weird with the stripe there. His fur just grew over his injury but with the wrong pigment or whichever.

Leader marks, including his are a real world injury! They quickly heal due to leader powers and so you don't immediately keel over sick of wound infection, or like hemophilia. Bleakstar's fur did the thing where when black cats have a scar it'll grow back white. Bleakstars blue, I know but I think it's cool. I have a LOT of scars and I love giving my OCs them, but I kind of hate the common consensus in WC fanart spaces to draw them onto tufts of fur, not inbetween/under the fur? No shade I do it myself sometimes, but I fix this problem of mine by having the fur grow like this :D

His black sclera is inspired by how @/blimbo-buddy draws some cats. I remember asking him some time ago, "oh why do you draw Darkstripe's eyes like that?" and he explained and I just left that experience going in my head "WAOW... SO COOL..." because I never drawn cats with 'odd' colored scleras myself before! He just looked off with white sclera, you don't want proof... BUT anyways if I was drawing him semi realistically I would give him a dark thick limbus to give the look of black sclera.

One time I photobashed him to look like analog horror.

Okay I've kept this in my drafts for like a day, in my inbox for longer, without writing an entire personality analysis for his actions in every single Day2clan panel, I'm out of facts for now. Feel free to ask any clarifying questions

What was Torngrowl/paw & Dustyspot’s relationship like? Really, what does Dustyspots think of him and the whole situation?

Tornpaw was his scapegoat, I see some people mistaken that Dustyspots' held a genuine affection for Tornpaw in anyway, nope! He's a lying liar who just wants to make Bleakstar suffer and cares about little else.

Tornpaw's apprenticeship consisted of Dustyspots' being overbearing & overworking Tornpaw into the ground, he was frequently unusually cruel & prone to weird actions & mood swings as a mentor. Its not a mental illness thing IMO he had a not fully formed evil plan and so repeatedly acted out of character (in universe) & stupid because of it. I frequently worry people think Dustyspots' is supposed to have a certain mental illness & thats why he acted like that but I wrote him to just have the same old inferiority complex anyone else could have, shrug.

I believe I've said this before but I wish I drew more of this actually HAPPENING, so thank you asking about them!

Also outside of Torn being a paw, when he was Tornkit Dustyspots ignored him cause he doesnt really like kittens, and when he graduated Dusty was annoyed that he was a good warrior. It sounds silly because yes as we remember Dusty said that was his motivation for Torn, make him a perfect warrior, hes upset because Torngrowl was supposed to follow a timeline and only graduate when Dustyspots' could use his children against the clan? So the fact Torngrowl didn't intentionally flunk is his annoyance.
