hi, i'm so sorry about your day :( agereg infodump for Sun?
Okay okay so age regression stuff isn’t canon to my main selfship with Sun BUT I’m still thinking about it a lot
Regressor!me, caregiver!Sun
being so brave all day, enjoying work but also being tired: Moon can tell and puts me down for a nap with the kids at naptime and that’s nice, he can keep an eye on everyone and wake me up if he needs me
and then afterwards, when everyone has gone home and the pizzaplex is quiet for the cleanup hour, Sun tells me to go play and he’ll clean up
I can protest and say I’ll help but he shoos me off towards the play structures with a pat on the head that he only does when I’m feeling small and bam I’m in the tunnels giggling and exploring
once he’s done cleaning he comes to scoop me off the ground: the floor drops away and I’m in his arms and wow he’s so big I feel so small
Sun enjoys the one on one dynamic, just me and him: I’m an effusive kiddo, smiles and laughter that get his positive feedback loops running in his programming: he knows he’s doing a Good Job because I’m smiling, and it makes him feel just right
it’s easy to make me lose track of time like this, easy to keep me overnight: eventually the lights snap off and Moon tucks me in: I sleep soundly and that soothes his own software, which usually runs him ragged at night with nothing and no one to watch over. I’m a gift to both of them, and he watches me all night.
Regressor!sun, caregiver!me
Sun was originally taught partially by being given places to play: it took time for the nuance of the caregiver role to be drilled into him, and that’s a lot of the anxiety that has made its way in: it’s His Job to make sure there’s no tumbles in the daycare, His Job to make sure everything is organized, His Job to make sure everyone is having fun fun fun!
Sun and Moon (in my ‘verse) used to be able to run at the same time in the background, taking care of each other and the kids, getting a break from being the responsible one, but now they’ve been completely severed and they don’t have that break
so I get to give it to both of them! again, after the daycare closes: before cleaning, we’ll cuddle and Sun will ask me his questions about the day, some of them very grown up questions and some of them very childlike: I answer them all with equal attention
then we clean and when everything is just right, all the checklists filled out and signed, Sun can start to play
he doesn’t always play like a human child, he’s experimenting in a way that works with his own code: sometimes he fills sheets of paper with overlapping perfect straight lines, then programmed images of the other animatronics, and then merges them into weird stretched versions and so on, testing what he can do with the art programs
he likes to play pretend and pushes the limits of that as well: not having to always Yes And like he does with the kids but getting bossy and having his way
sometimes he does things a lot like a kid: stacks the blocks as high as he can reach (no wires allowed when he’s playing), and sometimes he wants me to tuck him in for a ‘nap’ which always breaks my heart, he lies there so quiet for as long as he can bear it and it’s never very long
he does dangerous things because he’s allowed to when he’s not in charge, and he trusts me to tell him to stop: he tries to put game pieces into his mechanisms, he goes for the cleaning supplies to try to mix them, he climbs on top of the play structures
many of these things aren’t actually dangerous to him, but I keep the limits of what an actual child would be allowed to do, and that structure soothes him: I’m the one who has The Job and his role is to have fun fun fun (and even that… maybe it’s ok, as a child, to be upset if he pretends to hurt his knee.)
