New leaf (chapter 2)

“Did you s-still want to... go with me t-to look at plants Totoko?” A day had passed no since the trial, a new morning on all of them. A terrible thing like that shouldn’t derail their plans. Suki would cry but that didn’t make her problems go away. She didn’t want to let go of this date they had made either. There would be more pictures, and best of all a chance for her to impress Totoko with her knowledge of botany. 

her cheeks were glowing, starting at the shsl idol and herself loved like that. But if she could be friends with Totoko, that would be the best right? All the self importance of being famous without any actually attention directed at her. Suki smiled. “W-we can find ones to p-put in Ahiko’s shoes that’ll m-make his feet itchy.” Oh how dastardly. She didn’t know why being mean came to mind first thing like that. 

Maybe from watching how Totoko had been in the trial situation. She seemed so vicious it was scary but also nobody hurt her cause she’d hurt them first. Was that the way she had to be strong? Getting at the people she didn’t like... might just feel good.

Akihiko had never taken much notice of the school’s resident idol; the two of them were in different classes, and Akihiko was never into the idol craze. Her name sounded vaguely familiar when his classmates were whispering all kinds of rumors, but he just couldn’t bring himself to pay much attention to it.

But when he spotted her at a table during one of his disgustingly early-morning trips to the cafeteria for a pre-workout snack, he couldn’t help but feel curious about her presence. It was rare for him to see anyone else there in the morning, and surely idols of all people needed their beauty sleep?

Before he knew it, he found himself walking over to her, his banana and protein shake in-hand. “Hey there, uh...Totomo, was it? What’re you doing here so early in the morning?” Maybe if he had noticed the dark circles under her eyes or her hollow gaze, he wouldn’t have made contact, but Akihiko had never been a socially gifted person.

      “So, yer an idol, right?” Peacock’s never been too into celebrity culture (outside of her cartoon heroes, that is!), but seeing as there’s an apparent pop idol in her midst, why not try and make friends? “Y’sing about anything cool, or do ya just go with the generic pop crap?”

Ayyyy, normal girl walkin here! (chapter 0)

Whoa, this girl looked really put together. They had just walked off a boat and Suki felt all sorts of disoriented. Anyone who could look so good in such a short amount of time like this was really impressive. And to be honest, a little intimidating. They probably had brought all sorts of beauty projects while Suki could only rely on her natural complexion. It sure would be amazing to have a friend with skills like that.

She had to try to make friends eventually. Probably best not to start with someone who might just be the most popular girl of the group. At least if they turned out to not be very nice, Suki would know right away instead of having to worry about it for the whole month. 

“I c-can do this...” A little personal pep talk as Suki pushed her arms up against her cheeks, holding them there and concentrating hard until she got the same color as her skin. She had been practicing this technique for ages, worthy of a SHSL camouflage artist perhaps. 

“H-hello. How are y-you doing?” Suki smiled wide, feeling like she could take on the world. In reality the effect was actually highly unnerving and highlighted the absence of bones in her arms.

Room Visit (Closed - Totoko)

In all honesty...Justin hadn’t been expecting to be so busy at any point in his life before this (that he could recall): but he was concerned for quite a few of the students: everything had been such a mess he couldn’t help it. Among the top students he was most concerned of, Totoko was one. While he’d never talked to her much, he’d noticed how reliable and trustworthy she seemed in trials.

Yet he also saw how much pressure, last trial, she’d been putting to try and protect everyone. Such a heavy burden was not one anyone should have to carry alone, he knew that much: not to mention those frightening injuries. Goodness sake, he’d been scared for both her and Peacock when it had happened. When someone was recovering, you got flowers to help them feel better: but he didn’t think Totoko would want a reminder of the island. Instead, he sat at the dining room table, carefully making one fold and then another onto his handkerchiefs.

Once he was done, he nodded, and collected them up to take to Totoko. She...should still be recovering in bed, right? Unless he was wrong and she was on the mend faster than thought, but heading out from the dining room seemed a good idea.

“You seem relieved, to see me still here ☆ .”

He had hoped Totoko would linger in the dining hall long enough that he could chat with her when most of the others had gone. And thankfully, after most of the others had filed out and shuffled on about their day, she was still there; Wataru promptly takes the open seat next to hers, placing a plate of half-eaten food in front of himself and a small smile gracing his features for a moment. But once he glances around, sees that the few who are still lingering aren’t paying attention, he sighs a little.

“...I had simply wanted to let you know that I do not hold anything against you for pointing me as a suspect,” a fork prods gently at the remnants of an omelette while he speaks, “you only did what was necessary at the time, yes? ...Fufu, though whether or not it was something lingering on your mind, I haven’t a clue. I simply wanted to tell you.”

There were a few things that Tohru knew a lot about, those few things being games, anime, and idol culture. The latter of the three he’d maybe never become quite as obsessed with, but he was still a sucker for it- hence one of the reasons he’d agreed to even come to this school, outside of his sister forcing him out of his hikkoNEET lifestyle.

“You’re that idol, right?”

He spoke without looking up from his 3ds, quickly pressing buttons to speed through his game of Pokemon. It was much easier to look at the game than at her- way less nerve-inducing.
