One of my January 2018 resolutions was to get completely caught up in Dragon Ball Super (partly in preparation for the release of Dragon Ball FighterZ), and today I started doing just that. I just finished watching the Goku Black arc from beginning to end. While it was very cool with an exciting climax (but with kind of a disappointing deus ex machina resolution), Trunks and Mai stole the show for me.

Maybe it’s because I’m older with different tastes in entertainment from when I was a kid watching Dragon Ball Z on Toonami. Maybe it’s because My Little Pony makes up the bulk of my current interest in media. Whatever the reason, I found Trunks and Mai’s story to be FAR more interesting than anything else that was happening on-screen.

Story and characterization have never been Dragon Ball’s strongest suits (let’s face it -- it’s all about the action). But this arc did wonders for not only one of my favorite characters in the entire franchise but also a side character that I expected to be permanently relegated to comic relief. And it introduced me to a ship that I never would’ve considered before but am now 100% in support of.

I just... ARGH I JUST WANT THEM TO GET MARRIED AND FIGHT EVIL TOGETHER AND HAVE KIDS AND GROW OLD TOGETHER I COULD HONESTLY WATCH AN ENTIRE SHOW SURROUNDING THESE TWO I WANT MORE OF THIS I WANT SO MUCH MORE
