Staff from comedy clubs around the nation are taking to fundraising to help during Coronavirus shutdowns
The story is getting more and more familiar, the Coronavirus pandemic is forcing the public to socially isolate. In markets all over the nation mandates are being signed that restrict public gatherings, forcing venues to close including bars, clubs, and theaters in which comedians make their bread and butter. As the shutdown continues, these venues have staff that work very hard in these clubs…

I had the pleasure of joining the comedy panel on the You’re The Expert Live Show/Podcast once again this week. It’s one of my absolute favorite shows to be a part of!
This show was performed live at DC Improv in Washington, DC. The panelists were Maeve Higgins, Seaton Smith, and myself - and as always, we were joined by super host Chris Duffy and an expert! I’ll post the podcast episode as soon as its up - this one was so interesting! Dr. Robert Provine taught us all about laughter, hiccups, coughs, sneezes and... farts. Yup. Science + comedy gold!

Filed under: Why am I not surprised...? I originally started Funny Like a Fox as a full-on blog back in 2008 as a way to highlight the work of female comedians (see my (Wo)manifesto) but didn’t have the time to keep updating it. So this year, I decided to re-launch it as a Tumblr, thinking that would make it easier to manage. Well, it’s too months later and I’m going to have to say THAT plan didn’t work out too well… BUT, since then, I took a stand-up comedy class at the DC Improv and have been performing at open mics around town, which means I have now joined the ranks of female comedians myself! So now that I can make this site all about ME, I’m SURE I’ll pay more attention to it. :) To that end, the video above is my 5-minute set from the graduation show. (But, yes, I do still plan to post stuff related to other funny women…)

Story of our lives. All the reading and writing can get overwhelming and leave us constantly stressed. Not cool!
Take a breather from learning how to save the world and check out DC Improv. I’ve seen a show there before and had a great time.
