Ms. Katherine "Kate" Kane, world champion lightweight pugilist, ca. 1899.
Kate Kane makes her amateur boxing debut at a charity event held at the Gotham YWCA, 1933. Photograph by Jacob Kane; it would be the first and only time he would get to see his daughter fight before his passing later that year.
A remake of one of my earlier pieces, which is another recreation of a photo in Kate and Maggie's Bombshells apartment:
Kate Kane during round 1 of the 1934 New York Golden Gloves final in the women's welterweight division. This is my attempt at making a real
In addition to upgrading that work to include the newer Kate model, I took the opportunity to invent a different backstory to hopefully better explain why Kate would have that photo specifically.
After the release of those workout variants for Robins, I had to try out that concept with Kate.
The composition is inspired by the Kate Kane trading card from the Batman: The Legend series from Cryptozoic, with art by Iban Coello and Rainer Petter.
I've made some significant progress on my new 3D version of Kate, namely finishing Jacob's head shape, which I need to combine with Gabi's later on and factor in.
There's still much to do to finish up Jacob himself, like texturing, color matching on his hair and eyebrows, and tweaking the wrinkles on his face, but the shape is done.
Out of curiosity, here's what Kate looks like when combining only Jacob and Gabi's heads, with no other input:
After Kate's own head shape is done and factored in, it'll be interesting to see how it compares to this one.
Renee Montoya, averaged from her comic, film, TV, and game appearances.
A start to my 3D averaged version of Selina Kyle that I began over the holidays.
For characters like Selina who have thousands and thousands of appearances to work with, I've decided to only incorporate around 100 or so, or else I'd never complete them. The influence of each successive shape has less and less strength anyway the more of them that are added, so 100 seems like a good stopping point, since by then the look will basically be complete. All characters I make this way will definitely incorporate all live action performers, as many video game appearances as possible, and the character's most noteworthy artists. Same process as always, really, but now just keeping the most important examples. Skin tone is done by the same process; just average the colors together and find a suitable texture set that matches that average.
I'm going with Maria Kyle and Rex Calabrese to incorporate into my rudimentary genetics system: 25% strength for each parent shape, 50% strength for the character's final averaged shape. They have not yet been applied here.
Right now, this is about 10% of Selina's final look, and I don't think she'll end up looking considerably different.
Kate Kane attends the Gotham City Metropolitan Ballet. February 8, 2017.
This would've been when she and Bruce took Cass there, at the end of the "League of Shadows" arc. That's the same outfit Marcio Takara drew for her.
