EDIT: since I made this post, some genuine and very disturbing evidence has come to light about his manipulative and abusive behaviour towards various partners and other people. It is now clear that Douglas is not a feminist, I no longer have any respect for him and Capcom made the right choice in firing him. I have left this post up for accountability: deleting it felt disingenuous, like an attempt to cover up the fact I was ever wrong about someone. I’m not the type to jump on the “I never liked him anyway!” train when bad things come out about someone who’d previously seemed decent. I do not have any magical ability to detect bad people, and sometimes I’m very wrong, and I’m not about to hide the evidence of that. I apologise I did not believe the first allegations I heard, and I apologise for my part in the misinformation that spread about the victims. I have been in contact with those of the victims I could, on Twitter, and have apologised personally, and the apologies were accepted, though I realise this does not undo how wrong I used to be about this.
Also, if the young person who I once encouraged to meet Douglas at a con because “he’s a really nice person and I’ve only heard good things about how much fun he is from fans” ever sees this post: I’m sorry. At that time, I really HAD only heard good things. If I had heard even a tenth of what I now know I’d have told you to stay away from him. I hope he didn’t harm you. I hope you’re OK.
Below the cut are my incredibly wrong takes from years ago. I don’t know why you’d want to read them, except perhaps as a reminder that you never really know for sure what a famous person you’ve never met is like, no matter how many nice progressive statements you’ve seen them post on social media. Deleting it feels dishonest so I’ve left it up, but PLEASE, PLEASE don’t like or reblog or spread this post around and risk contributing to the misinformation.
So, D.C. Douglas, voice actor of Albert Wesker in Resident Evil, Azrael in BlazBlue, Legion in Mass Effect and many other characters, has been suspended from Twitter.
D.C. had used his Twitter account mostly to talk about Wesker (he clearly really loved that role), but he had also used it to support feminism and LGBTQA+ rights, including animating and voicing Wesker saying “I may be evil, but I am not a monster. I support Complete. Global. Trans Rights.”. He made Ratner’s homophobic remarks in 2011 public as well: this was what led to Ratner stepping down from the 2012 Oscars. However, he is also known for his frequent arguments with Trump supporters.
D.C. has always been very outspoken about his dislike of Trump. He has posted a series of political cartoons called Breaking News on his YouTube channel (which he writes and does many voices for) and famously left a very uncomplimentary voicemail to the Tea Party group Freedom Works.
While many found all this quite entertaining, there are naturally some who disagree with him politically and many of them have been posting some insulting things about him on Twitter for quite some time.
One rumour that has been spread about D.C. by various people is that he “films women in bathrooms”. The video these people are referring to is available online and I have seen it. D.C. accidentally walked into the wrong bathroom at a con in Denver (several other people on Twitter have commented that they made the same mistake as the sign was hard to see), and filmed himself saying that he’d walked into the wrong bathroom. He wasn’t filming the women (some women were audible in the background, but nothing more), he was just being self-deprecating.
Recently all this controversy escalated because of the Vic Mignogna issue going on at the moment. I don’t really want to go into that here. D.C. Douglas doesn’t like the whole “kick Vic” vs “I stand with Vic” debate and I don’t think it’s relevant. You can draw your own conclusions. However, D.C. Douglas got involved and mentioned that someone involved in Mignogna’s defence has posted blackface photos. This is true and the evidence is online.
This got a lot of people quite angry with D.C. Douglas so they brought up the women’s bathroom thing again. Someone even tweeted Denver Police to try and get him trouble (the police watched the video, spoke to him, and decided it was accidental). They also found a photo of him touching a woman’s breasts at a con; obviously if this had been nonconsensual it would be wrong and digusting, but this was apparently a posed shot that she had asked for.
Then they looked and reported as many of his old tweets as he could find. They managed to dig up a few where he had admittedly been quite insulting towards people (mostly alt-right people) and he has been suspended. Things like “how do you tweet from inside your rectum?” etc.
Now, I admit this isn’t the most polite way to talk to someone. However, I do think it is unfair that he has been suspended while many open racists, sexists and homophobes are still not suspended.
I’m not here to campaign against the ban. D.C. Douglas has actually stated on his blog that he likes no longer being on Twitter as he can get more work done.
And I’m not here to claim that D.C. Douglas is perfect or flawless. I don’t mind if you disagree with him on some issues; if you don’t find his videos and tweets funny (personally I find the style of humour in a few of his Wesker parody videos a bit immature for my taste, actually, although some of the others are very good); or if you prefer Richard Waugh’s Wesker voice (as some people I know do).
I’m just here to point out the facts, since there are so many contradictory rumours and speculations flying around right now. Whatever your opinion of D.C. Douglas, please do your research and don’t spread misinformation.
This isn’t a political blog but I felt this needed to be said. Thank you for reading this really long and hopefully not too ranty post.
I promise the next post will be something nice and non-political and not too serious.

Do you like zombies? Are you over 18? Good. Because we want to show you something naughty...
By popular demand, on Friday 17th August 2018, TFNation will hold its first ever adult only segment: The Notorious [Zombie Related] Erotic Fanfic Show. Performed live by voice actor and TFNation guest D.C. Douglas and... you.

To ensure all communications are intercepted, join our mailing list at https://tfnation.com.
That feel when you see a voice actor you recognize... in a live action show.
A repeat of an NCIS episode came on TV. And when one character is on, I’m thinking “hang on, that voice sounds familiar. But it couldn’t be...” [googles it] “Holy crap, it IS DC Douglas!” I didn’t know he did live action TV.
(I guess he achieved Complete. Media. Ssssssaturation!)
He pretty much plays “generic asshole politician”, by the way. And not a very big role at that.
Better pic of this boy for sale! Asking $350 OBO for full doll, DC Douglas in pink skin, comes with CoA and original box. Layaway available, too! #dcdouglas #bjdsales
This is fun. DC Douglas might not be actively racist, but he sure was super concerned about not having any Black people in the "Wesker Children" during the BLM protests in 2020 because he was "really" concerned about shooting Black Cops in RE2R when he streamed it. If he hadn't hidden it (which he did) then you would be able to hear the constant worrying about how many Black folks were in the game.
Abelism? DC? No way.
I only had to tell him not to use the r-slur to describe an Albert Wesker render that he thought was ugly to a group of Neurodivergent kids who had been called that slur a lot in the 90's.
Don't believe me? Here's him using it as late as 2010 (I scolded him in 2020 or early 2021, pre April when we had out falling out) on Wikipedia. Matt Dusing aka Matt Haunter also used the word "because retarded is a medical term" like baby just because you have low IQ doesn't mean the rest of us do just because we're autistic, silly Matt.
DC Douglas also routinely misgendered one of the two trans people in our streaming group. Victor Lindemann is also trans, but he passed as soon as he switched pronouns to he/him and came out. There was another person who was also Trans, and DC routinely misgendered him by using she/her pronouns despite said person being out as Trans for most of their life, including when DC met them. He would often try to struggle to gender them correctly publicly and get it right sometimes, but when alone or trans friend wasn't around, he would openly say "she/her" and once went so far to say that, "gender is visually coded and you look like a pretty girl!"
I hate to be the one to tell you that his anti-transphobia and ableism is performative.
Just don't believe most of the things out of his mouth. He was raised by Betty Malicoat, who is a new age healer who charges out the butt for her "advice" and let me tell you, she didn't do a good job raising him. :(
